What News Executive Told Shepard Smith He Was Hired As A Middle East Analyst?
Fox

Posted on 07/27/2006 12:35:40 PM PDT by Recovering_Democrat

So maybe I'm a masochist. Today I'm home, cleaning the house, and have Fox News Channel on as background noise (when the vacuum isn't drowning it out!)

Shepard Smith has gone on a litany this past hour that sounds like some high school know-it-all kid who wants to impress the teacher.

Some of it doesn't make sense...he says a military solution isn't possible (has he heard of World War II? Gulf War? Iraq?)...he says there is 'no way' Al Qaeda and Hezbollah would work together...and he seems to think Israel ought to give up more land for "peace"--he just spent several minutes blathering about some "farm" Israel controls, insinuating that might be the key to Middle East peace.

Oh yeah, and he took a shot at the big oil companies today, too...griping about how capitalism works. I wonder if Shep would like to hear gripes about how much he makes compared to how much he really contributes to the good of his profession.

So my question remains: who made this guy some kind of authority on anything having to do with geopolitics? I bet the average FREEPer reads more about any given subject than practically any news reader.

Every time I hear Shep, I am reminded of the real meaning of the term "dork"....

Step away from the TV! Call your sponsor!

Shep Smith looks like one of those people in V. I keep waiting for his face to break open and the lizard person to emerge. Of course that's when he isn't looking like an overgrown kid.

Just because Queen Elizabeth was an expert on geopolitics doesn't mean that every queen is, Shep.

Shep Smith gets so much grief around here, he's going to win Federal status as a protected class.

He's unwatchable.

He is a pinhead with good hair...like most anchors. I've written Fox and suggest others do, too.

He quite simply does not know the background of the area there and spouts out nonsense. Fox has wonderful correspondents there and I've been seeing less and less of them and more of Shep. I'm guessing that's his doing since they show how ill prepared he is in contrast. I would have thought some mature Fox news manager would have taken care of this. I've lost a lot of respect for the network leaving Shep over there. And silencing the good ones.

He is why I switch over to cnn when he comes on. Atleast I get to the damage done in Beirut and Tyre by the evil jooooos. Not to mention he is an idiot standing on top of a hill telling the world when IDF starts making their incursions.

Shepard used to be a news reporter in Orlando that would chase people down in the street when caught parking in handicap spots or dumping a sofa in an alley.

and he seems to think Israel ought to give up more land for "peace"--

I think we'd get much further having Isreal's neighbors give up land for peace. Maybe a 50 mile buffer zone in all directions, with NO locals inhabiting the area. Instead of fighting wars, the neighbors could use the money for resettling their people. Anyone left in the zone is fair game for the IDF.

I don't know that this is exactly a good idea, but it's far more likely to succede than the "peace movement" proposals. It would also undoubtedly get portrayed like Hitler's elbowrom speech.

I don't know, but I would love for Shep to tell us what mascara he uses. His lashes always look so voluminous and long. I wonder if it is also waterproof, you know, for when he covers hurricanes.

Remember, he pulled the same kind of "theatrics" in New Orleans.

We've sworn off Shep. We used to watch him at 7 sometimes, now we watch Glenn Beck.

I seem to recall seeing Shep smiling right after Katrina from his French Quarter "window" and stating that that New Orleans had been spared...?

How did he go from reporter to expert? A few days ago the generals were asking him for advice on military tactics. Today is foreign policy.

Perhaps the Illuminati have decided to promote him.

I refuse to watch Shep or Geraldo. They are buffoons. Where are Rick Leventhal, Greg Kelly, William LaJeunesse, or Steve Harrigan to report on this war? They were all great in Iraq and I don't recall them editorializing much (if at all).
