Well, I like to emphasise the Royal Navy aspect as most people miss it. The Battle of Britain could have been "lost" - with air cover becoming scrappy over the the channel - and the Germans still wouldn't have had a prayer of getting clear sea-roads.

I mean no disrespect to the "few", but it was the Royal Navy that allowed Churchill to famously remark that "We look forward to an German invasion - and so do the fishes".

Thats what us Brits are all about I would have thought you colonials had learnt that by now
