Conservative national security allies of President Bush are in revolt against Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, saying that she is incompetent and has reversed the administrations national security and foreign policy agenda.
The conservatives, who include Newt Gingrich, Richard Perle and leading current and former members of the Pentagon and National Security Council, have urged the president to transfer Miss Rice out of the State Department and to an advisory role. They said Miss Rice, stemming from her lack of understanding of the Middle East, has misled the president on Iran and the Arab-Israeli conflict.
"The president has yet to understand that people make policy and not the other way around," a senior national security policy analyst said. "Unlike [former Secretary of State Colin] Powell, Condi is loyal to the president. She is just incompetent on most foreign policy issues."

Tall, I've read all your exchanges with capt. norm, and for the life of me I can't figure out what in the heck you expect him to apologize for, other than disagreeing with you.
Thank you Judge Judy.
Apology is only genuine if one knows exactly what the apology is for, otherwise it's just an idle gesture.
I know that being specific is a huge request, but it sure would help to know how I hurt your feelings.
Would it absolutely kill you to be specific?
Otherwise my apology will be delivered by Ed McMahon along with that check from Publisher's Clearinghouse.
If you're talking about qualifications, he was eminently better qualified for the job than Condi Rice.
He received an undergraduate degree magna cum laude from the University of Southern California.
he served in the Naval Reserve, with active duty as an ensign in the Pacific Theater.
He attended Stanford Law School from 1946-49, where he was President of the Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif.
He was Chairman of his law firm.
He served as law clerk to SCOTUS Justice William O. Douglas
He served as the Deputy Secretary of State before becoming Secretary of State.
Nobody can deny that the man was extremely well qualified for the job.
Well, well Captain, you may be called Captain, but I'm not your office boy. Do your own research, (and you'll find out that previous Secretaries of State had far better qualifications, in terms of experience, than Condi Rice).
Instead, Newt is trying to stay relevant and build up his legacy by simply talking down the current administration.
No, that's not what he is doing. He is laying the groundwork for a possible run for the Presidency.
Exactly. I think you just proved my point.
In any case, we don't need to argue about it. I accept you like Newt, and I am ready for him to go on to other things. Let's just leave it at that. We'll both feel better in the morning.
I'm going to have to do my own research because you, obviously, have not come up with anything..otherwise you would post it.
Typical troll response. Throw something out that you can't substantiate and then when you're called on it, you try to throw the burden of proof on someone else.
Tell your seminar instructors that this ploy is really stupid and doesn't work.
See ya' when you re-emerge.
Newt IS an A55 and
Dr. Rice is the MAN!!
yo.
You've been here long enough to know that when you make a claim, you're responsible for PROVING IT.
Pony up or be gone.
Warren Christopher had more experience.
Medellaine Albright had more experience.
Alexander Haig had more experience.
You seem to have a "thing" about experience like that's all there is.
If experience trumps ability in your book, OK then, that's where we differ.
If it's really that good, turn it loose now.
I suggest there is an inherent, unintentional prejudice against women and blacks, and we have to deal with it within our own thoughts first, because it certainly is not Dr. Rice's skills which should aggravate anyone. Examining her skills and her beliefs on issues actually do the opposite: helping eliminate unintentional prejudice and helping build a positive view of her. This is much easier to hold than views based on fears and lies.
Secretary Rice is an academic specialist on Russia and world affairs. After her earned Doctorate (and most of the world has no idea how hard even a Bachelor's is to attain), she attained the position of the Chancellor of a University; authored two academic books; speaks five languages; was the National Security Advisor for four years prior to this position, and is a fantastic communicator, a skill very few ever attain, but a tool very necessary to actually reaching set goals. She is a Christian. She is pro-life (see www.4condi.com/issuequotation) for her quotes on issues).
Sure there will be issues we disagree with any politician, but in no way should anyone be twisting the truth as much as some of you have been on this post. We should be praying for our leaders, asking God to give them the wisdom and knowledge and skills they need for the tasks. And pray for love in our own hearts.
At least, I hope he will show up.
This.
You seem to have a real agenda against the lady. Why don't you just come out and tell us what you real gripe about her is?
It was way out of line and based on nothing.
See above to pollyanna.
IIRC, he actually helped in an advisory role during the early stages of the current WOT, and/or during one of GWB's campaigns.
A major problem, critics said, is Miss Rice's ignorance of the Middle East. They said the secretary relies completely on Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns, who is largely regarded as the architect of U.S. foreign policy. Miss Rice also consults regularly with her supporters on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Chairman Richard Lugar and the No. 2 Republican, Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska.
If this is true, especially the Lugar and Hagel part, well gag me.
Besides, we need a MAN to send to the ME.
She has exceeded the very highest of standards for Sec. of State for at least the past two decades and you still choose to demean her.
It starts to sound like something very personal from there on down.
I do agree with you that Newt's attitude of non-stop critique of the current administration is annoying. He may be right on some things, but he doesn't offer his "wisdom" in a helpful way.
I also have a lot of respect and admiration for Dr. Rice. However, the toughest talk that has come out of her as SECSTATE has been that directed at Israel, a staunch ally of the U.S., in fact the best we have in the ME.
Given the current situation, I am in a state of High Alert regarding tactics of all parties involved.
