Conservative national security allies of President Bush are in revolt against Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, saying that she is incompetent and has reversed the administrations national security and foreign policy agenda.
The conservatives, who include Newt Gingrich, Richard Perle and leading current and former members of the Pentagon and National Security Council, have urged the president to transfer Miss Rice out of the State Department and to an advisory role. They said Miss Rice, stemming from her lack of understanding of the Middle East, has misled the president on Iran and the Arab-Israeli conflict.
"The president has yet to understand that people make policy and not the other way around," a senior national security policy analyst said. "Unlike [former Secretary of State Colin] Powell, Condi is loyal to the president. She is just incompetent on most foreign policy issues."

Good post Chris. Thanks.
Good post.
Well you answered my "did you read" question.
If you read the article it has her finger prints all over it. Read her research from the past. The directive is quite conservative. We are going to help not do. Like the conservative stance on welfare etc.
The word may be thrown around, but she can use it properly in a sentence...
As far as being tough, I'll just say that I wouldn't want to mess with her and leave it at that. I think there are those on this thread who would get themselves decimated in a few seconds flat under the right circumstances and left to lick the wounds resulting from a tangle with a (gasp) nice, talented little black woman.
For years, it has been common knowledge that State is populated by alot of silly lefty types. It's no secret, and no Secretary of State, or President has solved the problem by firing the lot of them. A Secretary of State is a temporary employee, and Presidents to date have not had the stones to do what needs to be done.
Clean the place out if you want a change. Appoint a Secretary of State whose first action is to demand a resignation of every employee, union or not. Fire the whole bunch of them and re-hire those that deserve employment.
Think that will happen, think again.
You say something? You stated "massive" changes at the State Dept., I questioned your knowledge of such (I have vested interest, being D.C.centric).
You still have stated nothing of the "MASSIVE" changes, and finally you resort to flippant name calling.
hahaha...
LOL red meat conservative; you've been a Freeper for 20 whole days and you're the brain child of the Conservative Cause.
Let me tell you something Bozo; Condi Rice is one of the most intelligent and capable people in the Bush Administration. She is the most powerful and respected woman in the world.
As for Newt wanting her kicked out of the State Department: While Newt was whoring around on his first wife who had cancer, she was making a name for herself, honorably, by hard work and dedication; not as some sleazy politician who couldn't even win his own party's primary for reelection in his home district.
Neither you nor Newt Gingrich would make a decent scab on Condoleezza Rice's a**.
She's just advocating the same policy pushed by the President himself - which predates her coming to the position. This is nonsense.
Dakine,
You hear that.....?
me neither....
Rice fails everywhere.
Her advice to the President has been disastrous.
She is the Harriet Miers appointee to State. With apologies to Miers because we don't know that Miers would have been incompetent. With Rice there is now no question.
When her supporters stoop to compare her to Albright and others failures, you know they have lost.
We don't need to compare Bolton to others. We see daily that he is superstar in his league. Rice is out of hers.
Do any of these people who think she is a lightweight even understand what her credentials and experience are?
And Newt Gingrich can go pound sand. He has lost his mind, or someone is blackmailing him...take your choice. I was already steamed at his comment a few days ago that "President Bush need to decide if this is a real war and if he wants to win it." Now with this comment, I think that the men in the white coats need to come get him.
Yet another "true conservative" come to USE FR for their own end.
Her advice to the President has been disastrous.
Such colossal ignorance has earned yours the distinction of Dumbest Post of the Day.
My gosh! She's a "diplomat" for heaven sakes! I'd say she's one tough lady. It showed this morning when she stood up to Kofi.
I will agree with you on Bolton. The guy is top notch, I keep thinking, where has he been all these years.
I like Rice. I don't like the so-called two-state solution (which is really a three-state solution), as you probably know. It pre-dates Bush (and Sharon, and Olmert), but Bush was wrong to continue it. The present festivities give us a chance to deep-six this unworkable plan, or at least I consider it unworkable.
I fear that we will continue to cling to it for some time longer, and as we waste time pursuing a plan that, in the end, can't work, more people die.
But its Bush that will have to make that decision. Rice will execute it when he does.
