Writing for an outfit called FamilySecurityMatters.org last week, Weekly Standard contributor and longtime champion of Balkan Muslims Stephen Schwartz describes an overnight bus ride from Kosovo's capital Pristina to a resort town in Montenegro:
"A man behind me began speaking almost immediately and without stopping, in Albanian which I understand insistently focused on the nature of G-d (a favorite subject for Islamic fundamentalists), [and on] the nefarious influence of Sufis who thought they could reinterpret the faith, the evil intentions of Americans, Iraq, and bloodshed. I was startled because it is rare to hear Albanians, after the rescue of Kosovo, badmouth Americans G-d is one, who are these people like this American who come and try to tell us how to be Muslims? What about Iraq? Why is this American here with his friend?"
Schwartz then describes a rest stop: "I did not find out where I was until I asked a waiter in the restaurant, because none of the Albanians crowded in the back with me and my Sufi companion and the whisperer in darkness would speak civilly to me. When I asked one man, in Albanian, the name of the town, he answered in Serbian: 'ne znam,' 'I don't know.' Another said it was the Montenegrin capital, Podgorica (it wasn't). And finally a thin punk who could not have been over 20, and who, I soon realized, had been encouraging the voice behind me, said in perfect English, 'I don't understand English.' At the end of the rest period all three people filed back into the bus and avoided looking at me.
"Muhammad woke up and asked me what was going on. I told him, 'Someone back here is making Wahhabi speeches.' He grinned as if in disbelief, but said, 'I'm not surprised.........

I think Smartass may have used this source because they had a powerful photo with it. This Vanguard group copied the info from several different more credible sources and consolidated it in one spot, making it convenient to read.
The real irony is that Julia Gorin, author of the primary article is a Jew, and the Vanguard people are anti-semitic white supremacists -- yet they are both in agreement about what's going on in Bosnia and Kosovo. Should tell us something!
Pres Reagan asked the question "Are we better off than 4 years ago?" To update "Are we safer than 6 years ago?" And to use Rumsfeld's metric "Have we created more enemies than we have destroyed?"
Perhaps most telling about the minds of those who trained here is a document found at the camp. "I am interested in suicide operations," wrote Damir Bajrami, a 24-year-old ethnic Albanian from Kosovo, on his entry application in April 2001. "I have Kosovo Liberation Army combat experience against Serb and American forces. I need no further training. I recommend (suicide) operations against (amusement) parks like Disney."

GWB seems to hope that granting these animals independence will tame them, rather than encourage them. Don't think so Mr. Prez!
Unfortunately, this was a neocon war. Ever know Clinton to fight, willingly? He needed the cover of "intellectuals" like Bill Kristol and Krauthammer to join forces with McCain, Biden, Albright to send Wesley to the Balkans.
If you don't believe, do some searches on "neoconservative Balkans" and examine the theoretical, hegemonic underpinnings.
The neos have never had to answer for the Balkans, but you'll notice that Shwartz and Kristol are very good friends.
This is why I'm all for a post-neo conservatism. These "thinkers" have done more damage than they have helped.
Actually, this was one of those rare instances where the aqendas of the neocons and the libs crossed, but for two different reasons.
The Democrats wanted to narcissistically pretend that it was WWII and they were "saving the Jews" -- and Clinton needed something to take the US' minds off of Monica.
For the Neocons, the 50th anniversary of NATO was coming up with not a single engagement in all of those 50 years. But neocons didn't want NATO to disappear so NATO needed to validate its existence ASAP, because if it didn't, NATO would be an easy target for the political scrap heap.
A neocon lightbulb moment!: What better way for necons to validate NATO's existence and silence Lib objections to NATO's continuation than to makes its first engagement for a lib "humanitarian cause"? And that is precisely what the 1999 NATO Bombing of Yugoslavia was billed as!
The "1999 NATO Bombing of Yugoslavia" was nothing more than "a dirty political deal" brokered to satisfy the unwritten agendas of both the Neocon Republicans and the Liberal Democrats. The fact that people died, a country was destroyed, and we blew open the gates of Europe to Islamofascists was irrelevant to guys like Lieberman & McCain -- "The Donkeys and Elephants marched hand-in-hand and NATO was saved!" was supposed to be the real story -- even if where they marched was "into Hell"!
If NATO is supposedly a peacekeeping force, then why are they just standing around watching the Islamofacists torch Christianity in Kosovo. By definition, what kind of peace is NATO attempting to keep? NATO forces claim they are helpless to intervene, because they don't want to get in the crossfire. Why the hell are NATO even in there? When is that territory going to be returned to it's rightful owner? Support the war on terror... |
This is what happened to Serbs 2 years ago in Kosovo http://www.kosovo.net/news_pogrom.html and the only difference between when this happened and today are that more Serbs have been "cleansed" from Kosovo and NATO is open in their support of the terrorists. There are several videos of the actual violence of March 2004 on this site.
It's insane!

AKA TROP POS alert!
Actually, the left would blame another 9/11-style attack on Bush and they would allege that nothing like this would ever have happened if we hadn't attack Iraq for their oil.
And the hoseheads will say it with a straight face too, lower lips quivering with indignation.
I've heard that the jihadist known as Suleyman Ahmad lurks on these pages.
Thanks so much Smartass!
"I've heard that the jihadist known as Suleyman Ahmad lurks on these pages."
I've heard the same, but no specific screen names have been mentioned. Hmmmmmmm!
Yep, that's the assho...uh, that's the guy.
Have a look here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1515237/posts
LOL, OK, now I know who he is and what to look for. Bear with me if on occasion I stumble or ask a dumb question. I'm not totally green to the happenings in Balkans, but admittedly, I'm really a newbie to the discussions on the threads. |
Cool! Thanks Formerlib!
Looks like Stephen Schwartz basically only posts the articles that he writes and then comments on them & defends them.
Not narcissistic at all, is he? LOL!
