Sorry, but my children bore me to death! (Feminism's highest honor, Grand Narcissism)

Sorry, but my children bore me to death!
by HELEN KIRWAN-TAYLOLR, Daily Mail 08:00am 26th July 2006

It's the start of the summer holidays, when millions of mothers despair at how to entertain their children for the next six weeks. What none of them dare say is that they would rather their children were still at school or, frankly, anywhere else. Helen Kirwan-Taylor, a 42-year-old writer, lives in Notting Hill, West London, with her businessman husband Charles and their sons Constantin, 12, and Ivan, ten. Here, she argues provocatively that modern women must not be enslaved by their children.

The lies started when my eldest son was less than ten months old.

Invitations to attend a child's birthday party or, worse, a singalong session were met with the same refrain: 'I would love to but I just can't spare the time.'

The nanny was dispatched in my place, and almost always returned complaining that my son had been singled out for pitiful stares by the other mothers.

(snip)
Kids are supposed to be fulfilling, life-changing, life-enhancing fun: why was my attitude towards them so different?

While all my girlfriends were dropping important careers and occupying their afternoons with cake baking, I was begging the nanny to stay on, at least until she had read my two a bedtime story. What kind of mother hates reading bedtime stories? A bad mother, that's who, and a mother who is bored rigid by her children.

(snip)
Am I a lazy, superficial person because I don't enjoy packing up their sports kit, or making their lunch, or sitting through coffee mornings with other mothers discussing how Mr Science (I can't remember most of the teachers' names) said such and such to Little Johnny and should we all complain to the headmaster.

She'll die alone.

And whining about how ungrateful her children are...

I've seen it happen. And to the end they have no idea why their kids don't dote on them.

Sending their one and only son off to boarding school or hiring a nanny was a luxury my poor white-trash parents (bless their hearts) couldn't afford.

Ha, it is this self-absorbed witch who is consummately boring.

Nothing less than another sad step downward for the already ailing Western civilization. It is an attack on society's foundation when the sacred bonds of the nuclear family are assaulted by the plague of narcissism.

I used to be a fan of all things UK, but I really don't like the increasingly secular British much any more at all. Additionally, this kind of disgusting attitude means their asses will be easy to kick in the future. Sad. I'd rather hang out with the Poles.

OK, lazy and superficial is a start ... followed by self-centered jerk... Yeah, I feel compassion - for her poor children and what must be a very sad children's father. This woman is a load. Counseling might help...

Because you're a twat. Plain and simple.

This is a new low even for liberals: a "mother" bragging about how she pushes her kids off on someone else to raise.

Amazing what passes for "values" in that camp. And then they're surprised when their platform doesn't play in Peoria!

Very nicely stated! Mine is approaching adulthood. She still lives at home, but she works, goes to school and leads an overactive life--without us! I, too, miss the togetherness. More than I could possibly express.

In the age of the Internet no drivel like this ever dies. Even if this woman someday wakes up to what's really important in life and comes to regret tossing away the precious moments of her children's lives for other people and things that will leave her empty and wanting, her children will read this and it will cut their hearts out. How sad for them and for all of us who have to pay the heavy societal price for the increasingly successful drive to make motherly love extinct.

I do not have kids and never had. I have two grandsons - the sons of my wife's son - and they have taught me alot - especially patience. I am actually dredding what it would be like in 3 to 5 years when they go off to college and will not be around.

She sees child rearing as a career. She'll never be satisfied. The big payout of this career is watching your children be successes in life and raise their own children, get married, etc. Maybe that's why most parents want grandchildren so badly. My mother was not perfect but she was a really good mom who stayed at home and made my lunches.

My 17 year old left today, on a trip to the beach with her best friend's family. Every day, the realization grows stronger that she's growing up, and she'll soon be leaving for college, then will springboard into adulthood.

Bored by her? I think not. I miss her like crazy, and she hasn't been gone 12 hours.

Sometimes, I feel like I need a break, too, just to get caught up on things like housework and paperwork. I let them go out with and visit grandparents a few times this summer without me so that I could do housework and, yes, even catch up on some sleep.

Other than that, my husband and I never go out together without the kids. What ever would this woman do if she had to homeschool? ;-)

>And to the end they have no idea why their kids don't dote on them

And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then

I don't have kids... But I'm over at my brothers house every other day playing with my nephew.. I really cannot understand how this b!tch can say kids are boring.. He may only be 16 months old, but he is a hell of alot more fun to hang out with then most adults I know.... Seriously, if you can't handle being a parent and sacrificing some of your time for your children.. why even bother having kids? Society would be better off without people like this trash.

Indeed.

But, the Brits seem to be further along the path than us. I believe the Left calls this "sophistication."

I doubt they care, but as a former Britanniaphile, I'm disappointed in them.

This is a woman who had a child but never became a mother. How sad.

On a completely opposite note, Mrs. kevkrom and I (joyfully) expecting children #2 and #3 on or about Feb. 1.

I remember when I was going to school part-time. I had a Saturday class and missed the oldest grandson's soccer game but made it for the youngest one. When I got there, I said I made it. He was on the ground with a friend, looking through a Pokemon book, and without looking up he said "couldn't make it for my game." Man, it felt like someone kicked me in the groin! I do not think I missed a game since then.
