Miscalculated badly, didn't he?

who could argue

Anyone can. Good folks must. Why are we here? To be forever victims? To tell dismaying tales and create bigger cheering sections of victims?

No, not me. I'm here to live.

Chirac opposes NATO force in Lebanon
By AP AND JPOST STAFF

French President Jacques Chirac said Wednesday that NATO should not lead a proposed international force in Lebanon, saying the alliance is seen in the region as "the armed wing of the West."

"As far as France is concerned, it is not NATO's mission to put together such a force," Chirac told the daily newspaper Le Monde. "Whether we like it or not, NATO is perceived as the armed wing of the West in these regions, and as a result, in terms of image, NATO is not intended for this."

Israel has suggested it would prefer a NATO-led coalition in Lebanon, not the traditional UN peacekeeping force that has tried but failed to bring peace to Lebanon over the last three decades.

France has said a multinational force should be placed under United Nations authority.

Chirac's comments were published as officials from the United States, Europe and several Arab nations met in Rome to try to agree on a plan for ending more than two weeks of fighting between Israel and Hizbullah guerillas.

Meanwhile, Vice Premier Shimon Peres said Wednesday that without Israel, there would be no bilateral solution to the Middle East crisis. Peres made his remarks in response to the fact that Israel was not represented at the Rome conference.

--------------

Chirac is such a useless waste of space. I hope he loses the next election and is thrown in jail for all the fraud he committed as Mayor of Paris.

Actually, I got the impression by looking at images of Lebanon, that Chirac's France itself was seen in the region as 'representing the west'. The street signs I saw in Lebanon were in two languages. One looked like Arabic and the other was most definitely French.

"They asked: "If this happens, will the issue of the prisoners be over and done with?"

I said that it was logical that it would. And I'm telling you, our estimation was not mistaken. I'm not exaggerating.

Anywhere in the world - show me a country, show me an army, show me a war, in which two soldiers, or even civilian hostages, were abducted, and a war was waged against a country - and all for two soldiers.

This has never happened throughout history, and even Israel has never done such a thing..."

LOL!

> there again who could argue with the head hackers.

To some extent, this may be true. But this build up has being going on for years.

No one complained to the government, the UN, the press. Not that any of these parties would have done anything, as they are all backing HbZ. But that is the point, I don't think anyone in southern Lebanon can claim status as an "innocent bystander", including the UN.

Vehicle was in IED path - central Baghdad.

It was civilian contractors. Some injuries, none serious. The vehicle looks like hell. It's why we pay the big bucks for those up-armored babies. Five lives were saved by one today.

No military was involved.

All is OK.

We are VERY relieved.

I wonder if Hezbollah was in part motivated to attack by Sharon's stroke. They might have assumed that Elert would be too cautious to react so strongly..

Number of Wounded IDF Soldiers is Climbing
14:10 Jul 26, '06 / 1 Av 5766

(IsraelNN.com) The number of IDF soldiers who have been wounded in the battle for control of Hizbullah stronghold Bint Jbeil is climbing, according to Army Radio.

At least 20 soldiers have been injured, according to the reports, as soldiers continue to battle against the terrorists. So far five have been evacuated to Rambam Hospital in Haifa.

IDF officials said approximately 200 Hizbullah terrorists are holed up in a mosque in the south Lebanese town, where they are continuing to fire at IDF soldiers.

Solution: Some Hellfire missiles against the mosque followed by napalm and the world is rid of 200 terrorists.

But the good guys have accounted for themselves:

That's a good point.

Thinking they would catch the Israelis in transition with a liberal PM taking the reins might seem like a sound strategy.
