THE first men to walk on the Moon reported seeing a UFO, a new TV documentary reveals.
Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the Moon's surface after Neil Armstrong, says space agency bosses covered up their sighting.
And the Apollo 11 astronauts were also careful not to talk about it openly.
He said: "There was something out there, close enough to be observed, and what could it be?
"Now, obviously the three of us weren't going to blurt out, 'Hey, Houston, we've got something moving alongside of us and we don't know what it is, you know?
"Can you tell us what it is?'

"We weren't about to do that, because we knew that that those transmissions would be heard by all sorts of people and somebody might have demanded we turn back because of aliens or whatever the reason is."
The documentary, tonight on Five, also reveals that the astronauts had to repair the lunar module with a ballpoint pen after the historic landing in July 1969.
In the cramped conditions, someone's bulky spacesuit had snapped off a circuit breaker essential for starting up the engine.
To this day, Aldrin treasures the everyday object that saved their lives.
He said: "I used a pen, one of several that we had on board that didn't have metal on the end, and we used that to push the circuit breaker in."
The programme also draws on classified documents made public for the first time.
i used my BIC pen to write.... Dear penthouse your not gonna belive this but....
Yeah but that was before the History Channel decided to make them real.
When (most) astronauts speak of UFO's, they mean that in the literal sense, Unidentified Flying Objects. They don't mean ALIENS, just something they see flying that they can't identify. Probably space junk, debris from the ship, chunks of ice.
No kidding! I first used one to prop open the carbureator on my Chrysler New Yorker, so I could get it started. Of course, I also had a pair of leather gloves to put out the fire.
I'm glad someone else remembers John Glenn's "constelation Urine."
Virtually every sighted human being who has looked up at the sky has seen something up there that they weren't able to identify. By definition those are all "unidentified flying objects."
Buzz Aldrin doesn't say he saw a flying saucer. He says they saw something close enough to observe which they couldn't identify, ergo it's a UFO. I'll bet the way he phrases the "we didn't tell anybody" comment makes it clear that he knew it was nothing, but that fruitcakes would claim it was an alien and try to force them to come back.
I've met and spoken briefly with Aldrin. He's one of the most clear headed engineers I've ever run across. No nonsense at all. That's why I was so offended by the way he was portrayed in From The Earth To The Moon. Tom Hanks couldn't resist at least one attack on a great person for simply daring to express his belief in God and Jesus Christ.
You can't get an independent source, but you could get the other 2 fellows who were with him....I'm noticing they aren't saying anything.
Our local talk radio station was discussing this topic this morning only they attributed it to all three; Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins. Also, for a good laugh, do a google search of Aldrin and UFO.
I used a bobbie pin I found under the carpet in the trunk of my '67 Mustang. I bought some cotter pins but left the bobbie pin in to see how long it would last.
Answer: Three weeks.
I remember watching another UFO documentary a while back in which one of the Apolo astronauts (Buzz?) said they had seen a UFO from the capsule. I thought they had taken photos of it.
Now, that's a righteous spliff, mon!
And when we were getting ready to leave the moon, Houston said, "Apollo 11, you're cleared for liftoff." And I said, "Roger, we're number one on the runway." Although it's a phrase used over and over, there was no one else up there, and there wasn't a runway up there either.
Don't you hate it when you have to explain a joke.......
Now if he had said that they saw a flying saucer, that would have been more interesting. A UFO could be nothing more than a piece of space junk. Or perhaps swamp gas.
Sure they do:
Not saying this UFO thing has any credibility, but Neil Armstrong doesn't talk about the mission. He just doesn't talk about it. Always wondered why...
