I used a Bic pen to fix the shift linkage on a 65 Mustang out in the middle of the desert. Trying to go 70 miles in first gear with a 202 would have taken me about 10 hours. Always wanted to do that commercial "Dear Bic, you're not going to believe this but..."

No kidding! I first used one to prop open the carbureator on my Chrysler New Yorker, so I could get it started. Of course, I also had a pair of leather gloves to put out the fire.

Oh, I remember that trick! Also, spraying Engine Starting Fluid down the throat on a cold morning.

Did the same thing on the 88' Wrangler . Ran the battery down twice trying to start it . THEN, I remembered my dad propping open the carb with a screwdriver on a 52 Pontiac. Stuck in the pen and instant ignition .
