Former President Bill Clinton now enjoys a more favorable rating from Americans than does his wife, Sen. Hillary Clinton, according to a new USA Today/Gallup poll.
One major reason is the gender gap: Hillary Clinton has an image problem among men.
The poll of 1,000 adults conducted in late June found that 59 percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of Bill Clinton, 37 percent have an unfavorable opinion, and 4 percent have no opinion.
Hillary Clinton's favorable rating is lower, at 51 percent, and 44 percent view her unfavorably.
Therefore the net positive rating (the percentage favorable minus the percentage unfavorable) is higher for Bill (22 points) than for Hillary (7 points).
The latest favorable ratings for Bill Clinton show little change since last October, when his 60 percent favorable rating was his highest since 2001.
During his eight years as president, Clinton's favorable ratings ranged from a low of 42 percent to a high 66 percent. His favorable ratings fell below 50 percent for much of the time after he initially left office, partly attributable to his controversial issuance of pardons in his last days in the White House, according to the pollsters.
Hillary Clinton's latest favorable ratings are also little changed since last October, when they stood at 54 percent.
As was true for her husband, Hillarys ratings varied significantly while she was in the White House. Her highest favorable rating of 67 percent came in late December 1998, during the Clinton impeachment, while her lowest favorable rating in the White House was 43 percent in January 1996. In the latest poll, roughly the same percentage of women rate Bill (59 percent) and Hillary (58 percent) favorably. But among men, only 43 percent rate Hillary favorably, compared to Bills 58 percent, and 52 percent rate her unfavorably.
Among Republican, 22 percent rate Bill favorably, while only 16 percent feel this way about Hillary.
Likewise, 88 percent of Democrats view Bill Clinton favorably, and 75 percent feel the same about Hillary, with 19 percent of her fellow Democrats saying they view her unfavorably.
The favorable ratings among independents for Bill and Hillary Clinton are at 56 percent and 52 percent, respectively.
People prefer drowning to burning to death.
"Hillary Clinton's favorable rating is lower, at 51 percent, and 44 percent view her unfavorably. "
I find it very hard to believe that ONLY 44 percent view her unfavorably!
I agree! Where the heck did they take this survey, at a DNC meeting?
They switched the numbers!
The Evil of two Lessers.
I don't think Hillary will ever be President, or anything even close. She is personally very unappealing and the most airbrushed, doctored pics can't change that.
I agree 100 percent! I especially can't imagine any man, except on the far left, ever voting for her.
The Loser of two evils.......
Truth be known, Bill hasn't been "over" Hillary in years
that's not good....can they live with hillary to get bill back close to power ? ( 2 for the price of one ?)
PORNO ALERT!
It could have been taken in any urban area, but probably was done by running around 5th Ave. and 50th street in Manhattan.
Gosh. If given the choice, I would pick Bill over Hillary. At least the guy can party and speak well. She is a shrill who I could not even see myself spending five minutes with. The choice is not to good to begin with but since that is the two choices that is how I pick.
I like Bill more than Hillary, too. At least he's no longer eligible to be President.
How much you want to bet that she will run on the idea of "you will get two presidents for the price of one"?
Shooting to stabbing... heart attack to cancer...
Maybe the Ft. Marcy Park bus tour.
It's been asked and answered and I believe this to be true (but it makes a lot of sense so maybe not), that the toon is ineligible for Veep because there is a chance he could take over the POTUS seat, for which he is ineligible.
