Yesterday when Rush was discussing the "Military Experts" rantings about the Israel-Hizbollah war one thing was obviously missing. None of the "Experts" have given any thought at all to the Strategic picture and how Lebanon fits in the larger War on Islamic Fascism.

Israel should be going for the long game, a solution to this decade long cancer NOT a drama queen headline breeding short term military blitz. It would be utterly stupid for Israel to prune back Hizbollah when it is in both their's, and the the NATO powers, interests to completely eject Iran's front group Hizbollah from the Mediterranean Littoral.

All the plans advanced by self styled "Experts" would accomplish is a lot of dead Jews for a short term "Quick fix". Hizbollah would simply bleed the Israelis while pulling back into sanctuary areas in Syria and northern Lebanon. Then when the Israelis could no longer stand the blood and treasure long term occupation was costing them, Hizbollah would simply flow back into the same positions they hold now. And 5 years from now the Israelis would face the same crises in Lebanon. Basically all the "Experts" advocate is that Israel repeat the 1982 war now in 2006.

Like the US in Iraq, Israel should go for a long term FIX that uproots Hizbollah and creates a viable Lebanese Govt that can police its own territory.

That maybe why the Israelis have indicated interested in a NATO force to do in Lebanon what it is currently doing in Afghanistan. Suppress the terrorist groups while the Lebanese build a viable nation state that can provide long term stability.

For Israel, and the West, that outcome would be a durable strategic victory in what will be a very long war

I'm an oldies country fan too. Ernest Tub and Hank Williams and Grandpa Jones, anytime. Of the newer country, I like only a few, the few that sound old time. But SheDaisy is a nice replacement for the possibilities that the girl band that shall not be named could have achieved.

Yep. I got to admit it does nothing to enhance his standing with me. I merely advise caution in taking a Democrat Activists like Dana Milibanks spin on this.

For example. Steele just said about Katerina what black freinds of mine said to me. So if Steele said "In the black community many people see Katerina...." it puts a completely different spin on the story then what Milbanks reported.

I simply do NOT trust Milibanks. He has a history of being a DNC stoodge.

Dennis Hastert represents the 14th Congressional District. Only a small portion of the district lies in the western sector (lightly-populated) of DuPage County.

The majority of his district is in Kane, Kendall, De Kalb, Whiteside, Henry and Bureau counties (less urban counties).

I understand your frustration. You are a noble, educated voter. You have every right. I am opposed to the McCain style (also the main democratic tactic) of appeasement politics. The democrats have perfected the art of saying whatever will win votes regardless of their real values, beliefs, plans, etc. They cater to public ignorance of history and current events and issues. They promise fixes and change to problems and issues that they, by and large create or fuel. I want straight shooting representatives, even if they are occasionally wrong on the issues (as our straight shooting president has been in a case or two). I want honorable people that mean what they say and say what they mean.

All that said, Steele is in a very left state. His constituents (by and large) meet the criteria of democratic voters (history and current events ignorance). He is no doubt "playing politics." And I fear there are more and more Republicans succumbing to this tactic. As much as I loath it, if the tactic gets another conservative in the senate, in this case, I might look the other way. McCain has no excuse for his constituents in AZ. He only panders to create a history for another presidential run.

I got to admit this really really disappoints me how ever knowing how the DNC stoodges like Milibanks have lied in the pst I will reserve judgment on Steele. They lied about Santroum, they lied about Thune, they lied about what Mark Kennedy said, why not lie about Steele in the hopes of hurting his campaign?

This response shows how stupid the conventional wisdom is. Elections are not won by "moderating" your positions. All that does is encourage your foes and piss off your freinds.

Not really...there has always been a fairly large Chinese (some Taiwan, some mainland) business presence in all of SE Asia. The real threat in Thailand is that the three Southern provinces are next door to Malaysia and there have been Al Qaeda type bombings. But if you stay away from the deep South you're safer than in most cities in America.
