Rush Limbaugh Live Thread Tuesday July 25, 2006
Rush Limbaugh.com ^

Posted on 07/25/2006 8:42:17 AM PDT by MNJohnnie

Yesterday when Rush was discussing the "Military Experts" rantings about the Israel-Hizbollah war one thing was obviously missing. None of the "Experts" have given any thought at all to the Strategic picture and how Lebanon fits in the larger War on Islamic Fascism.

Israel should be going for the long game, a solution to this decade long cancer NOT a drama queen headline breeding short term military blitz. It would be utterly stupid for Israel to prune back Hizbollah when it is in both their's, and the the NATO powers, interests to completely eject Iran's front group Hizbollah from the Mediterranean Littoral.

All the plans advanced by self styled "Experts" would accomplish is a lot of dead Jews for a short term "Quick fix". Hizbollah would simply bleed the Israelis while pulling back into sanctuary areas in Syria and northern Lebanon. Then when the Israelis could no longer stand the blood and treasure long term occupation was costing them, Hizbollah would simply flow back into the same positions they hold now. And 5 years from now the Israelis would face the same crises in Lebanon. Basically all the "Experts" advocate is that Israel repeat the 1982 war now in 2006.

Like the US in Iraq, Israel should go for a long term FIX that uproots Hizbollah and creates a viable Lebanese Govt that can police its own territory.

That maybe why the Israelis have indicated interested in a NATO force to do in Lebanon what it is currently doing in Afghanistan. Suppress the terrorist groups while the Lebanese build a viable nation state that can provide long term stability.

For Israel, and the West, that outcome would be a durable strategic victory in what will be a very long war

I really hope you're right, Johnnie. If Steele didn't say this, he should disavow it and tell us what he did said. A lie uncorrected becomes the truth.

Thanks for the link.

I wish I liked Country music more than I do...it's the Conservative thing to do, like "24".

I do love Bluegrass Baptist Hymns though.

True.

But candidates say something like that to 9 drive by media types to accomplish something. And normally, it's not to virtually eliminate the chance of winning an election. There's got to be more to this.

Sweating! My electricity expensive time is now compared to winter in Seattle. The pool (which I didn't need in Seattle) helps. AC is required (which I also didn't need because I lived on Puget Sound). Still, I'm retiring to Thailand in 5-7 years so this is good practice and getting my blood ready...

Yep you are right LL. That has been one of the really disappointing aspect of this "New Tone" crap. They simply do NOT counter these people with the necessary vigor. However, I have never won an election while they keep winning. Perhaps THEY know better, just doesn't look like it to me.

Considering how Rush has flamed out a Bush in the past, it absurd for him to lecture anyone like Steele about loyalty.

Must have been taken out of context, IMO.

Then, in true leftist fashion, they run with it.

Yep, Rush is right about one thing: Conservatism works every time it's tried. But I'm picky about loyalty. I don't like disloyal folks. And if every seat didn't count, I'd want to throw him over the side. But I know I can't let my anger get me. I still want Steele to win. But the new Black Conservative Veep? No way, no how... sorry, you don't trifle with loyalty.

The new country music is not what it used to be. I can't listen to it anymore. When a station does oldies I'll tune in.

"I do love Bluegrass Baptist Hymns though."

Be sure to visit www.laurelbaptisttemple.org on a regular basis. Click on the "Sermons" tab. Anything where the author is listed as Ben and Ernie, it's gonna be Bluegrass Gospel music.

Yep Reagan understood the value of loyalty. That why he proclaimed the 11th Commandment.

"Thou shall speak no evil of fellow Republicans"

Why so many of our self proclaimed "Reagan Conservatives" seem to think being Democrat Party mouthpieces somehow demonstrates some sort of superior intellectual credibility is beyond me. It intellectually weak to simply sneer at everything, DEFENDING things is what take intellectual firepower.

Bleh... now Rush trying to defend Steele.

Saying 'everyone does it' and defending him by saying 'McCain does it'.

That hardly helps RUSH.

I live in MD, and will not be voting for Michael now.

You'll have to tell me about the retirement to Thailand thing, off thread. We've got a cousin doing that.

Always good to see you, LL.

Oh good.. now the next excuse for Steele RUSH has is:

well if the NAACP is calling you uncle tom, and a sell out and all, what are you going to do?

So 'everyone else does it' and 'pandering to libs and MSM to win an election' is the best RUSH can come up with to defend him?

Interesting...

Also I bet you 1 MILLION DOLLARS, if it turned out to be Chaffee or Specter, RUSH would have a totally different attitude.
