Don't worry, this is being done in Germany.

More and more science is being done elsewhere, in part because attitudes like those we are seeing on this thread.

It is sad to see Luddites again, but their opinions are more and more prevalent every day.

God forbid science should actually go out and explore. If they knew what they would find, then there would be no point.

Better to stay at home and just see what the Bible, Baghavaghita, Torah or other scientific text have to say about advanced genetics and similar subjects.

Ah, the Proxmire effect. The tiny fraction we spend on science becomes the whipping boy while trillions evaporate into fraud, waste, pork and indolence. Why is science always the target?

Politicians do it because they want to present themselves as budget-conscious, even while they bleed the public coffers dry. Others do it because they hate the science, and fear what it may reveal.

454 is a majority-owned subsidiary of CuraGen. The German side of it may be taxpayer supported.
