Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah exposed his unabashed racism last Thursday when offering his "apologies" to the family of the two Nazareth boys killed by one of his Katyushas a day earlier.
In an interview on Al-Jazeera TV, Nasrallah said he hadn't meant for his rockets to slay Arabs - only Jews. The two small brothers "were inadvertent victims," who, he pronounced, "have joined the ranks of martyrs for the Palestinian cause."
Too little attention was paid to this, both at home and abroad. Nasrallah evinced no compunction in distinguishing between the blood of Arab children and Jewish ones. The murder of seven-year-old Omer Pesachov and his grandmother Yehudit Itzkowitz at Moshav Meron on July 14, for instance, was obviously no cause for apology. Young Omer was fair game and legal prey because he was Jewish.
The fact that Nasrallah regrets killing two Arab children while striving to kill Jewish youngsters should surprise no one.
However, what should take us aback is the fact that such distinctions are even made on our side of the border, and this despite the fact that, as reported on the weekend in The Jerusalem Post, Jewish and Arab children share the very same bomb shelters in mixed cities like Haifa. One would assume that this would enhance the sense of shared destiny in the face of the same menace.
Israel's Arabs and Jews are too intertwined geographically for the rockets to home in exclusively on those their dispatchers earmark for destruction. The danger is nonselective and the shells indiscriminate.
Nevertheless, some Israeli Arabs have been reported watching from Galilee rooftops for incoming Katyushas and cheering when they slam into Jewish villages nearby. This is all too reminiscent of Arabs dancing on the roofs each time one of Saddam's Scuds flew overhead and struck Tel Aviv during the first Gulf War.
Incomprehensibly, even the tragedy in Nazareth couldn't change minds. The immediate knee-jerk reaction of enraged neighbors after the bombing was to blame Israel - not Hizbullah. A slew of spurious charges was unleashed - from claiming that no instructions on safety procedures were issued in Arabic (patently untrue, as anyone who tunes to channel 33 knows) and that the government builds no shelters in Arab homes.
The government, however, is not in the construction business in Jewish homes either. Regulations mandate the addition of security rooms to houses put up since 1992 and this has been in effect in Arab as well as Jewish areas.
The fact is, as Nazareth Deputy Mayor Ali Salem candidly admitted: "Our people didn't expect to be hit. The rockets are only intended for Jews. We told them to stay indoors, we told them to take precautions, but they refused even after the boys were killed, even after the funeral. They disregard all instructions, as if this war isn't their concern."
But that's the least of it. Druse Deputy Knesset Speaker Majallie Whbee (Kadima) noted that "leaders of Arab parties are busy these days inciting Israel's Arabs against the IDF action in Lebanon."
Balad has been disseminating leaflets calling on Israeli Arabs to "demonstrate against the slaughter by Israel of Gazans and Lebanese." Hizbullah terrorists are dubbed "popular resistance fighters."
The Balad circulars predict "Israel won't achieve its aims." Local Arabs are urged to "stand by our nation in Gaza and Lebanon against Israel's beastly aggression."
Whbee added that he "cannot find a single Arab-list MK who'll express any empathy for Israelis currently under fire."
Balad MK Azmi Bishara proves Whbee's contention. In an interview with the BBC he refused to utter any criticism of Hizbullah, stressing that he regards himself "as one of the victimized people of the region," and that the slain Nazareth children are to be "added to the list of victims of Israeli war crimes."
On Sky News, he said Israel had "destroyed" Lebanon, comparing its offensive to a nuclear bomb. More of the same can be found on the ARAB48 Web site, in which Bishara's Balad audaciously sides with the enemy.
No other country would abide such sedition during wartime. A bill revoking the Knesset membership of any MK who overtly supports Israel's enemies was passed last week in preliminary reading. The legislative process must be speeded up and the new law enforced.
[Israeli Arab] Nazareth asked to be disconnected from air raid sirens
Home Front Commander: Nazareth asked to be disconnected from air raid sirens Ronny Sofer YNET 23 July 2006

Home Front Commander Yitzhak Jerry Gershon told government ministers: "The city of Nazareth asked to be disconnected from the system of air raid sirens because it interfered with them on remembrance days for IDF martyrs and on Holocaust Day."
Gershon was responding to claims that the siren didn't work in the city when it came under rocket attack in which two brothers were killed last week.

Yeah, but what did Allah want?
Frommers: "During World War II a Japanese submarine surfaced off Tutuila and lobbed a few shells ashore. Ironically, their target was a store owned by Frank Shimasaki, the island's only resident of Japanese descent."
Don't know about Hizbulla law, but common law says the intent was there and there was no accident.
"No other country would abide such sedition during wartime"
Except, of course, the United States/s
Michael Moore must be very proud of Nasrallah -- another of one of Moore's "freedom fighters".
Yeah, one would. That would be the country that has the NY Times in it.
No, actually; I can think of one other. But the point is well made.
The reason the squishy libs equivocate Israel's Defense Ministry with Hezbollah is because they can not fathom the idea that there really are a group of people out there that are the low life, murdering, evil, terrorist scum deserving of being disabled by the working democratic Israeli force for good in the Middle East.
The reason the squishy libs do not distinguish Israeli Military targets with the Hezbollah civilian targets is because to do so would require conceding to actual forces of good and evil at work in the Middle East.
The reason the squishy libs categorize the defense of Israel on par with terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah, who indiscriminately lob rockets loaded with shrapnel specifically intended to maim and kill as many by-standing civilians as possible, and who send suicide bombers into civilian marketplaces, who use Lebanese civilians as human shields . . .
The reason is because once they recognize the right side and the wrong side, once they admit to the amicable cause of a lawful Israeli democracy, and contrast it with the insane Islamo-fascist mission of the Hezbollah and Hamas, once they do this then squishy libs must make a distinction between good and evil, and once they do that, then the squishy libs would have to admit that actual good and evil exist, and this flushes theoretical moral relativity out of their squishy little brains.
I expect that Bill Clinton will be heading to Israel very soon to fight along side the Israelis.
It's worth noting that from what I understand, those weapons have no guidance system and are notoriously inaccurate. Firing one is like throwing dice in the air and hoping they land in the "right" spot.
Because of this, they have killed amazingly few people - the casualties are still in the double figures, even though hundreds have been fired off.
It's a pretty dumb way of running a war - and of course you are just as likely to kill one of your own people as a member of the enemy. The only solution to this particular problem is not to use such badly-conceived weapons in the first place.
D
Everybody sees a difficulty in the question of relations between Arabs and Jews. But not everybody sees that there is no solution to this question. No Solution! There is a gulf, and nothing can bridge it. . . We as a nation, want this country to be ours; The Arabs, as a nation, want the country to be theirs.
Katyushas are primarily a terror weapon.
(Go Israel, Go! Slap 'Em, Down Hezbullies.)
Kahane predicted all of this 30 years ago.
Everything thats happening with the Arabs in Israel supporting Hizbollah and Hamas and the murderous terrorist war against Jews in the last 10 years.
If the Kahane's led Israel, none of this would be happening.
anti-semitism bump
When whole nations succumb to such evil, then they are not twisted and maimed in their hearts as a nation but instead become only people,"doin' their thang" in yje eyes of a moral relativist, sort of a manifestaion of self determination no matter what idea.
Well as you might guess, there are societies which evolve to be life makers ( Yahuden based societies, and several others) and those which evolve to be life takers ( Iran and its Sumerian precursor of ancient times, Baal was their god), which applaud nihilism and death as a goal intrinsic to culture. These are lifetaker societies. The Israelis are life makers, or they would have ended as a people in the Holocaust. The Shiites are life takers, their happiness is in death, death of the souls of their women, and death for any unwise act instead of a trial by their peers. There have no peers, only an unforgiving hierarchy m an undorgiving god and an insane pederast prophet.
So those who subscribe to moral relativism are not only a threat to themselves but are candidates for the Darwin award. In this great clash of civilizations, life takers and life makers, life makers can only prevail if their moral relativists are sequestered from the power of political, social and economic decision making. America is just beginning to understand this.
The New York Times and its sedition has done much to illucidate this fact to the American people.
Oh, thank goodness.
