The Talk Shows
Sunday, July 23rd, 2006
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): John Bolton, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations; House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill.; Washington National Opera director Placido Domingo.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): White House chief of staff Joshua Bolten.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Israeli Ambassador Daniel Ayalon; Syrian Ambassador Imad Moustapha.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Pre-empted for live coverage of the British Open.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Bolton; former CIA officer Gary Berntsen; Isaac Herzog, Israeli tourism minister; Sens. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., and Richard Lugar, R-Ind.; Reps. Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich., and Jane Harman, D-Calif.
The Speaker can be as partisan as every other member, and should be. All I was saying is Hastert is also charged with protecting the image and integrity of the House. Much like President Bush drives us mad when he seems to be protecting the office of the Presidency by not going after many of the things Clinton did that we believe were wrong.
The Majority Leader would be more partisan, as would the party Whip, who's supposed to keep the votes in line. The Majority Leader would be the one who is pushing issues relevant to the party line and direction we are going.
My only point on Hastert was he has not been a strong outspoken advocate of issues and his position is similar to being a CEO, running the House, keeping order, moving legislation filed by either side, etc.
I don't get why everyone is saying Bolten did a bad job. He didn't say something totally stupid like redeploying to Okinawa.
Britt Hume is a nat. treasure.
Britt is indeed head and shoulders above just about everyone in the field. He's up there with Tony, imo.

Habib took a nice job with a major radio chain... I don't recall it being Clear Channel. ...not sure if it was a sateliite net or what.
#534, Well quite frankly you have bragging rights coming, and you have the drive and determination to get ahead and get things accomplished. A lot of this I am sure has to do with your Parents and how they taught and motivated you in your formative years, and gave you an ability to cope with extremely difficult health matters and crises that most people would not begin to deal with ever. You should be a Motivational Speaker in your spare time(I know what spare time?)you can make big bucks doing that, and could do wonders just talking to wayward Republicans.LOL! I hope your eyes are doing better, we really need your eyes as much as you do(not quite but you get my drift)to tell the real story, and to continue to do the Research, spread the good word, and make those Liars cry uncle, or Aunt, just as long as they surrender.
Hastert was worse on television than I've ever seen him. He was either very worried about something or not feeling well. Something was definitely amiss.
He wouldn't even look into the camera and, worse, someone please tell him to take off those dark, stupid glasses.
I am a huge advocate for Hastert, but for future television appearances, send Boehner, for God's sake.
That's for sure!!
Yep.
Interesting that Bill Bennett this morning mentioned that he was very curious about Brit's demeanor during the Hastert segment also. We aren't the only ones who noticed.
No, not busted. Hastert didn't do well for this appearance on TV and I've seen him do better in the past. When he gets passionate over something he can do well. Others commented he may have been on meds or something else was bothering him, I don't really know.
Biden and Dodd--a plagiarizer and a half a sandwich.Yeah they can lead the country...
ROTFLMAO-doesn't get much better that that!
