God has blessed us with such faithful friends; it is so very hard to let them go. I'll be praying for you.
Prayers up for Sam and for you and your family.
You and Sam are forever in my heart.
You were both blessed with each other and had wonderful many years together.
No dog could have hoped for a better life.
You know how much I love you both, and you know that I feel the pain you’re feeling, now.
I wish had lofty words and pretty prose to express myself better, but this has to suffice.
You are Good People and Sam was a Great Dog.
All my love and many tears,
Shari
A magnificent soul goes on without us, this day.
Always a tough moment. Sam knows you cared for him.
Sam is one of the legendary dogs. The dogs who selflessly protect their humans from harm; no matter what the risk or cost to themselves.
Rest well, old fellow. Your work here is done.
Bumping the thread.

A special prayer for the Good Dogs that will be waiting on the other side.
The Good Lord knows which of them are needed to make eternity complete.
I’m really sorry to read this. I remember reading about the bear attack when it happened. I wish you the best in this bittersweet time of your life.
And how...but hullo! What are all these animals? A cat-two cats-dozens of cats. And all those dogs...why, I can't count them. And the birds. And the horses. They are her beasts.
Did she keep a sort of zoo? I mean, this is a bit too much.
Every beast and bird that came near her had its place in her love. In her they became themselves. And now the abundance of life she has in Christ from the Father flows over into them.
I looked at my Teacher in amazement.
Yes, he said. It is like when you throw a stone into a pool, and the concentric waves spread out further and further. Who knows where it will end? Redeemed humanity is still young, it has hardly come to its full strength. But already there is joy enough in the little finger of a great saint such as yonder lady to waken all the dead things of the universe into life.
- C. S. Lewis, "The Great Divorce"
