In a state where sin, debauchery and corruption are commonplace, it takes a lot to get people talking.
The case of the seemingly healthy state controller who died suddenly and the attempted suicide of her husband has generated a lot of chatter - and caught the attention of law enforcement.

I smell something funny.
The FBI is doing a toxicology screen to see if she was poisoned.
Excerpts:
So when she died unexpectedly July 11 at age 50, friends and family didn't know what to make of it. She had seemed healthy and vibrant.
Her husband, Chaz Higgs, said it was a heart attack and chalked it up to the stress of an uphill election battle for state treasurer. But just days after her death, Higgs tried to kill himself by slitting his wrists.
...
Maybe. But friends and family are wondering if there's a more sinister explanation, especially considering Augustine's first husband died while Higgs was his hospital nurse.
...
Higgs, 42, was a critical care nurse who also happened to work at the hospital where Augustine's previous husband was taken after a stroke. The couple had been married for 15 years.
Charles Augustine, 63, an airplane pilot, died in August 2003 of complications from a stroke, according to his death certificate.
Higgs attended the wake, then he and Augustine were married just three weeks later in Hawaii.

So do I. Nevada has a long history of "unusual" politics, but I've never heard of anything like this in an election.

There's enough of a plot here for a made-for-tv movie.
I think Louisiana and Nevada are tied for #1.
Defintely foul play here.

Indeed, if Chaz Higgs is indicted, there will be at least one made-for on this.
They could have saved a lot of money by just combining the wake and the wedding ceremony. I guess they wanted to wait for a respectable amount of time to pass before they got married. :=)
I was thinking the same thing!

These guys will have the case solved in 60 minutes.
After some mugging and the obligatory Emotional Confession.

Kathy Augustine was running for political office, so they had to consider appearances.
Maybe we could start a new saying, "she got Layed."
I am not touching that one...
But the $1 million question is, which network will film their made-for movie first?
Vince Foster...
That says a lot IMHO. 3 weeks? 3 weeks after his death and she and his nurse are married?
Sounds like that Matlock story about the woman nurse who nursed the guys wife who died, and then the nurse and husband got married...and then he died. Someone better check on that.
The wages of sin.
I thought that Las Vegas was a family friendly city...yeah right.
