Not once since Hizbollah kidnapped two Israeli soldiers, killed a young Israeli citizen have my liberal friends mentioned once in office conversation. Today I felt totally shut up when one of my co-workers made a comment about "my governor, Mitt Romney" and new benefit rules for MassHealth. I started to respond and was shut down by another co-worker who said O.k. let's not talk politics. I said "You democrates never want to talk politics." It's so frustrating. Day after day after I spend my evenings here on FR, my liberal co-workers talk about the next pair of curtains they are going to buy, wow, those Red Sox are so hot, etc.,...I'm surrounded by what I would say are people who really don't care about what goes on around them, unaware how what goes on in the world should affect them. My four fellow female co-workers never want to Discuss anything. Their feeling is people should be able to believe what they want, worship who they want and that's it. What is wrong with me. Why do I feel so isolated? Yes, I live in liberal Massachusetts and that should be the answer right there but I could use some encouraging comments. Thank you for considering my thread my wondersul fellow Freepers. There has to more to life than talking about curtains and paint doesn't there?
Cool! My brother moved to McGregor, TX near Waco a few months ago. And get this, they are liberals....and they love it!!!!!!
Obviously I don't know you or your situation. But I know Liberals. So be careful. They'll smile in your face - and yet hate you, and when the time is right, they'll stab you in the back. Don't forget, you ARE the Enemy. Take care.
Wow, scary! Don't forget the DNC was held pretty much right in front of my office and who was the one who went across the street to talk to the young people from Israel? Me! just me. They barely bothered to talk about politics then. Crazy! I am crazy living the big Massachusetts joke. Thanks for all your advice.
I dont have any liberal freinds. I am not saying I hate liberals. I just find I tend to gravitate to people with the same beliefs as I do. I have Lib co workers and occasionally we trade freindly jabs, but know not to get into it.
The reason is Liberals have become the conservative party-- not in a practical political sense but as a matter of power.
Liberals have been so thoroughly defeated in the public sphere that they have no choice now but to try to "conserve" the small amounts of power that they have.
This slow slide to nothingness is accomplished by silencing their opponents. The public positions of democrats are so transparently contradictory and weak that public argument can only lead to further demolition.
See their silence as a confession of weakness.
I do not talk to liberals on the job unless it is strictly business...
I make it a point to tell them I am not interested in being distracted by incessant jibber-jabbering about their boring, pathetic lives...
It is easy to pick out the liberals from the other normal people... hang with them, ignore the liberals...

I don't have to like it - I'd rather be in New Hampshire or Arizona among a different sort of crowd. But the work is here, and it is the only practical course.

I've got no problem talking to them, about anything really. I just won't talk about politics. If they goad me I just say "I'm sorry, I don't talk about politics on the job".

the libs that do talk just talk out their ass and it is very easy to correct their ‘mistakes.’ The problem though is they will not listen even if you show them sourced facts they accept to the contrary.
Thanks JasonC. We are the minority so I guess we must live with it. I'm just so outspoken I can't shut my mouth. I know that is my problem .
