SHE was raped by three men, endured depression, illness, bulimia, shame and self-harm. She was humiliated at school, called a liar in court and had her higher school certificate disrupted by legal warfare.
"I cancelled my whole life for three years," said Tegan Wagner at the end of her rape trial. It was delayed nine times, as her assailants, the K brothers, sought to prevent and then abort the trial. Yet she wouldn't change a thing.
"All this has turned into a positive," she said this week. "I wouldn't change anything. By coming out, by addressing an issue that is taboo, it has changed my life. I'm doing something positive instead of wallowing and hiding. I am addressing an issue that never seems to be addressed: how these crimes affect the lives of the victims.
"So much good has come out of it. It's helped with my future; it's given me a direction. It's helped me to help other girls. By doing that, I've helped myself."
Ms Wagner was 14 when, in June 2002, she was raped by three brothers from Pakistan. It led to one of numerous gang-rape court cases in Sydney in recent years. So many of them were disrupted, aborted or repeatedly delayed, that the deputy senior Crown prosecutor, Margaret Cunneen, publicly complained: "Justice isn't achieved by ambush, trickery, dragging proceedings out in a war of attrition with witnesses."
Ms Wagner lived through one such war. In court, she witnessed perjury on an industrial scale. She was extremely unhappy with the light sentence handed down in her case. The Crown was also unimpressed and has appealed.
All four of the gang-rape victims and their families were deeply affected by the various trials involving the K brothers.

Infidel whore getting gang raped by muslims - no story here - move on...
Well, then, the Australians shoud say their cultural background is the justification for dragging them out in the alley and shooting them.
"(Islam) was the excuse for their crime."
The cause, but not the excuse.
No doubt. It's a filthy culture.
Tegan Wagner. You see? They picked her because she typifies "THE West".
They hate the West. Why do we allow them here ?
The difference between Pakistan (Muslim) and Australia (The West). In Australia, the fathers, brothers, husbands, boyfriends, etc. want to hunt down the rapists and kill them like rabid animals. In Pakistan, they "honor kill" the women. Sick!
Where is the father? If it took me years, I would make sure each one of these pigs was literally castrated.
"Well, then, the Australians shoud say their cultural background is the justification for dragging them out in the alley and shooting them."
E X A C T L Y !
I would do worse!
They would never make it out of prison.
In California, before 9-11 I would sometimes go to gunshows, and sometimes I would see these guys in flowing muslim robes yakking away, carting out heavy pallets stacked waaaay high with 7.62 x 39, and SKS's and whatever, like they were girding for war.
It was such a sight that even at that placid time it really made people stop and gawk. But I mean, they weren't doing anythink ILLEGAL, or anything, right?
And they're ALL OVER the place. Not keeping that high a profile now, I believe, but there are many, many of them.
And our borders are as porous as ever, and that makes it REALLY HARD for me to consider this war on terrorism as anything really serious. The manpower, gear, and fancy budgets really do not impress me as long as local police officers are PROHIBITED from asking the most very basic questions in the world at traffic-stops, or whatever.
As long as things aren't firmed up back home, I just laugh at what we're doing overseas. I mean, we charge out the front door, guns ablaze, and the back door is wide-open with a neon sign advertising, "Vacancy", and everyone with any power is legally hand-cuffed from improving things and bringing actual peace of mind.
Anyone who showed up at a gun show in flowing robes around here would be stopped and questioned and probably escorted out.
And giving them the male counterpart of a clitoral circumcision...or, as it might be called, a "de-pee-wee" procedure.
Regular Australians are badasses for the most part. Can you imagine how rough the prisons are?
