War of the Worlds star Dakota, 12, has signed up to appear in Hounddog.
The screenplay calls for Fanning's character to be raped in one explicit scene and to appear naked or clad only in "underpants" in several other horrifying moments.
A source close to the film said: "The two taboos in Hollywood are child abuse and the killing of animals.
"In this movie, both things happen." Fanning's mother, Joy, and her Hollywood agent, Cindy Osbrink, see the movie, written and directed by Deborah Kampmeier, as a possible Oscar vehicle for the pint-size star.
What is going to be jaw-droppingly incredible is when PETA complains about the killing of animals part only.
To subject a 12 year old to this script let alone to have her portray the acts as described in this article constitutes a form of child abuse. This is beyond disgusting. I don't blame 12-year-old Dakota Fanning, I blame her parents for allowing this.
Let me get this right. A 12 year old will be filmed naked, sexually groped and fondled in a few sex scenes. And this isn't considered a crime because...?
Think about it. If Child Protective Services got reports that a parent was repeatedly coercing their child into acting like she was being raped, they would step in a put a stop to it. Turn on the cameras, bright lights, and do it in Hollywood and they'll do nothing.

Expose this child to all this evil for what? The chance to make a filthy puke of a movie and try to win some stupid golden idol? Godless heathen's, the whole adult lot of them. Sometimes stoning ought to be brought back.
Govt shouldn't have to come up with laws to protect children. Parents need to do a better job of protecting their children.
Dakota's parents could have refused to let her be in the movie. They could have let her keep doing movies like Dream or I am Sam, but they decided to let her do a sleezy movie instead.
Just look at what clothes parents allow their pre-teen daughters wear. Just look at what movies parents let their kids see. Then you have parents using filthy language, doing drugs, etc in front of their kids.
This past year I was very depressed about kids/parents because my daughters went to a new horrible public school. I couldn't believe what the kids got away with at this school. It was amazing the poor behavior that was tolerated at the school, and I'm sure at home.
This summer has been better because when my kids have done activities they have been filled with nice kids, so I am a lot more hopeful that there are still nice kids and good parents. We're going to private school next year, and I know we'll be around better kids/parents there also.
I just don't like the govt trying to do the job of neglectful parents.
I agree. I see no point in this movie. Reminds me of the notorious "art film" Salo: 120 Days of Sodom, made by Peir Paulo Pasolini. It depicted the rape, torture and murder of a bunch of young people at the hands of Fascists in WW2 Italy. People who have seen it says it requires a strong stomach just to get through it. I have never seen it nor plan to. I've argued with its defenders who say "Salo shows the horrors of fascism". I usually say "there's already something that showed the horrors of fascism-it's called WW2!"
Using a popular entertainment method such as film to depict perversions and/or sadism really is "bad ju-ju" IMO.
With any luck, Hollywood will go broke.

Hollywood feels shock and filth will cover for an almost total lack of talent. They are wrong.

Salo is impossible to find. Long out of print. If you can't depict the horrible in films can you do it on stage? In music? In novels? Why should film be treated differently from other artforms?
Add another person to that list. I don't particularly like the kid myself. Something just seems off-putting about her, in the same way that young girls whose parents place them in beauty pageants just look odd with all that make-up. I can't quite put my finger on it, but "off-putting" seems to be the best way I can describe it. Of course, I don't really watch many movies these days, partly because I haven't been impressed with the quality of films.
They are the ones who said they will depict a nude child not me.
Why are you discussing this with people angry about a movie that hasn't even been filmed yet? My guess is that it will be shot little differently than the rape scene in "Bastard Out of Carolina", which this movie seems to be ripping off.
