Question is why Lebanese govt doesn't reign in Hezbollah.

Lebanon army is in almost complete alignment with Hezbollah as judged by policy statement at their websites - I've posted link here a few "pages" ago.

Yoni's Promise
Friday, July 21, 2006 12:23 AM

I have been asked to repost this.

I remember watching the last Israeli troops leaving southern Lebanon in the middle of the night and I felt shame, that we were leaving like thieves in the night. We left, do to Israeli public pressure that came from a group called the Four Mothers, along with the usual left wing self hating Jews of Peace Now and Theirs a Limit.

How has Israel been paid back for leaving Lebanon, with rockets, dead Jews and two of our soldiers being held in Lebanon.

Now let's face the truth that our retreating from Lebanon is. First it has allowed the rocketing of Israeli civilians. The job of the IDF is to protect the civilians and that at times can mean that our sons will fall in combat.

I feel the pain of the parents that lost sons in southern Lebanon over the 18 years that we were there. I have seen it first hand, when a member of our family was killed on the last week of his military service. His father become old, over night.

Israeli troops in Lebanon are finding that Hizbullah has been very busy during the six years that we were not in Lebanon. Our forces on the ground have been finding an interconnecting network of bunkers and tunnels. If Israel wants to really solve the Hizbullah problem we are going to have to go into Lebanon and given the history of the UN forces in Lebanon, we will have to stay there.

To all the mothers that started or joined the Four Mothers group, Peace Now and Theirs a Limit, you should be ashamed of what you are forcing your country to go through. Every rocket that now falls on Israel has been fired with your assistance. Due to your actions the fighting on the ground in Lebanon will be long and bloody.

We will fill many more graves with our sons due to your ideas and the reaction to you by Ehud Barak the Prime Minister that ordered the retreat from Lebanon.

I am moving from a person that only put his own rear end on the line to joining that noble group of parents that have given our sons to the IDF. I pray to G-D even from now that HE will keep my little baby safe. But my little baby is a 6'3" 230 pound Israeli paratrooper who is now graduating from Israel's West Point.

My son who is no longer a baby, asked me to promise the following, if G-D forbid he should be taken hostage he ask me to promise not to beg for his return. Don't grovel to this scum he said, just pray for me and then get revenge.

I now pray for the parents that will grieve in the coming days and weeks for their sons that have been taken too early from them. The joys of life being stolen from both the dead and their parents, no future weddings, no grandchildren to hug.

Zamir my son, you have my promise.

All this pain brought to Israel by left wing idiots.

Reported possible candidates
Rumours have recently surfaced that former U.S. President Bill Clinton and former Chilean President Ricardo Lagos have set their sights on becoming Secretary-General; however, the nomination of Mr. Clinton, who is from a Security Council state, would be a break from tradition. Other possible candidates are South Korean Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon, undersecretary general for the department of public information Shashi Tharoor of India, Gro Harlem Brundtland, former Prime Minister of Norway and former Director General of the WHO, Tarja Halonen the current President of Finland and Vaira Vîíe-Freiberga, the current President of Latvia. However, some consider it to be Asia's turn to fill the post and both Clinton and Lagos have denied that they have aspirations to hold the job. No announcement has been made, but behind the scenes China is already pushing the candidacy of Thai Deputy Prime Minister Surakiart Sathirathai, who also seems to have the support of the U.S., Russia, and Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Jayantha Dhanapala of Sri Lanka and José Ramos-Horta, former Foreign Minister of Timor-Leste and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate is also considered a strong candidate. Dhanapala is well reputed in UN circles especially for his contribution to disarmament issues.

There is also a strong feeling that it should be a female Secretary-General this time, because secretaries for the past 60 years have all been men. Current New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark, and New Zealand Governor-General Dame Silvia Cartwright have been tipped as candidates after being promoted by international women's group Equality Now.

However, countries upholding the veto power in the Security Council are nations that most likely will not see a Secretary General coming from their country, thus including China, the USA, France, the UK and Russia.

Bill Clinton has himself suggested Tony Blair, current British PM, when he retires.

Don't know much about any of the nominees, BJ would love the post. BJ's around the world.

Israeli Arab Imam Yearns to See Hizbullah Flag Over Israel
06:05 Jul 21, '06 / 25 Tammuz 5766

(IsraelNN.com) Eulogizing two Israeli Arab children killed in a Hizbullah rocket attack earlier in the week in Nazareth, a community imam spoke of the day when there will be “true peace” and the Hizbullah flag will fly over “Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Iran and Israel,” yearning for that day.

There was no anger at Hizbullah for causing the deaths of the children, but Nazareth’s mayor and other officials channeled their anger at Israel, blaming the IDF Homefront Command and others, charging government officials with neglect and discrimination, citing too few shelters in the Arab sector as the primary cause for the death of the two children.
Homefront officer Colonel Kuperberg on Thursday rejected the accusations, explaining the ratio of public shelters and safe rooms in the Israeli Arab, Druse and Jewish sectors remains the same. He went on to explain that it is true that in some Israeli Arab municipalities there are no air raid sirens, explaining that is the decision of community leaders.

Kuperberg expounded on his statement, adding that some Arab leaders would not permit the installation of the air raid siren apparatus since it also sounds on Holocaust Remembrance Day and Memorial Day for fallen soldiers. Since it is a package deal, the Arab leaders opted not to have the siren installed.

I'm not hearing anything new in Rice's message. Saying Israel has right to exist. Ceeasfire would be false promise as would return us to the status quo. Stating must get to root causes.

Calling on Israel to try to minimize casualties. Referring to the UN resolutions already in place. Talking about the resolution calling for deployment of lebanese military to all points within the country.

I know each country is different , but here in America we think of the U.S Marine that was labeled the "Marlboro Man" as the real Marlboro Man.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I realize that, and I agree. However, I was talking about the "typical" type of marlboro man. Lower caps, OK???? :)
IMHO, Marlboro Man is a type, not one particular person. Our guy and this wonderful Israeli guy GOT IT! :0D Both of them Marlboro Men.
Bolton opined it would be more concentrated along the lebanese border looking for a destroying missile sites.
Maybe that explains that headline.
