I'm not blaming you for reposting. It needs to be repeated. And yes it is breaking news still.

But we have nknown for years that Iran and the puppet are tied at the hip.

Not surprising: They would be the ones either buying the missile later, or paying for the test now.

'natch, it was, among other things, a sales demo. Prolly had some hezzies there for some hands-on training, too.

Thanks so much BunnySlippers:

U.S.: Iranians witnessed N. Korea missile test

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- One or more Iranians witnessed North Korea's recent missile tests, deepening U.S. concerns about growing ties between two countries with troubling nuclear capabilities, a top U.S. official said Thursday.

Asked at a U.S. Senate hearing about reports that Iranians witnessed the July 4 tests, Assistant Secretary of State Chris Hill, the chief U.S. negotiator with Pyongyang, replied: "Yes, that is my understanding" and it is "absolutely correct" that the relationship is worrisome.

Hill's comments are believed to be the first public U.S. confirmation that Iranian representatives observed the seven tests, which involved one launch of a long-range ballistic missile, which failed soon after being fired, and six tests of short and medium-range missiles.

Good to get confirmation, but we were batting this one around just after it happened. If it was a demonstration that North Korean missiles can hit the ocean it was very impressive.

They were certainly looking at the Taepodong because their own Shahab-4 was derived from the Nodong/Taepodong series and the Shahab-5 uses engines of similar design, at least in the first stage. Russia to North Korea to Iran. Fizzled like a wet firecracker...

US can, but NK can't?

Is this the beginning of a showdown?

This is just a confirmation of a fact we discussed during the missile test. Doesn't really change the equation.

WWIII is shaping up as:

United States/Israel vs. Iran/Syria/North Korea/Hezbollah/Hamas.

I think we could also count on Britain, Canada, Australia, India and Japan to support us, as well as our allies in the Mideast. The French would be out of the loop, as they usually are.

China and Russia would do themselves and the world a favor by remaining on the sidelines.

This is a rather ironic turn of events, in light of the stories that surfaced last year about Israel's attempt to sell advanced technology to Red China to upgrade their intermediate-range missiles.

Quite frankly, this is why I usually don't give a flaming sh!t about what happens in these places halfway around the world. It'll probably be decades before all of the facts surrounding these deals comes to light anyway.

The scuttlebutt is that the test was a show for their sake. A missile deal.

In that case, I think the deal is off.
