Addressing foreign ambassadors, including U.S. Ambassador Jeffrey Feltman, Prime Minister Fuad Saniora gave the first official death toll in the conflict, saying also that 1,000 have been wounded and a half-million displaced.

The World Health Organization told NBC News that hundreds of thousands of people are reportedly internally displaced, with more than 30,000 finding refuge in schools and public gardens in and outside Beirut.

Saniora made an urgent appeal for an end to the fighting, saying Lebanon “has been torn to shreds.”

In a swipe particularly at the United States, Saniora asked: “Is this what the international community calls self-defense? Is this the price we pay for aspiring to build our democratic institutions?”

The International Red Cross, along with the U.N. children’s and health agencies, expressed serious concern about civilian casualties and health risks from the violence.

"Is this what the international community calls self-defense?"

Yes, and so was the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Is this the way we used to fight the Injuns? "Only good one's a dead one," said Gen. Sheridan (supposedly). Today, some of my freeper friends take no mercy on Leganon and seem to suggest, "the only good Arab's a dead Arab," - even if he's a Christian Lebanese?

Simple solution. Kill the mad dogs like Nasrallah and bury them.

Where was Prime Minister Fuad when Hizbollah took over his counry and started this war.?

If you cant clean up your own mess, Fuad, get out of the way and let somebody do it who can.

Cowards deserve this fate."""

Like I said, a lot of freepers seem to believe, as Gen. Phil Sheridan said of American Indians, "the only good Arab's a dead Arab."

Sounds a lot like racism to me.

And Israel is using restraint.

For example, they left the control tower and terminal alone in the airport.

Israel has also been crystal clear on what needs to happen to stop all this -- send back the soldiers and stop firing rockets.

Next up -- power and water.

Sounds a lot like racism to me.

Do you allow terrorists to operate out of your house? Sounds a lot like justice to me.

My hope is every single person killed in the bombing
is a Hezbollah militant.

I dont know of anyone in this forum who wants Lebanese civilian Christians hurt in this.

No. It's the price you pay for harboring terrorists.

So, should we have bombed all the people in Idaho because some white supremacists have lived there and made it their staging ground?

300 dead is not unimaginable. Its embarrassingly small. If you dont stop the launching of missles from you country than you can imagine 30,000 dead. Get use to the numbers. Then double it.
