WRONG! Government spending is needed in areas where private companies are unwilling or unable to invest capital.
That's a very conservative attitude. [sarcasm]
Funding is provided btw. It just isn't as great as YOU might wish because it's been a FAILURE as of yet. capitalists tend to invest in success. Only failures need government subsidies because they cannot make it on their own.
Government paid destruction of embryos is a straw man for the abortion movement, which itself is a Destroy America's values movement.
Spoken like a true statist.
Wrong! Government spending is to be used to "establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity..."
It is not to substitute for spending "where private companies are unwilling or unable to invest capital."
Let Buffet spend his billions on this if he wants.
And you want the federal government to invest in unproven, unethical, and probably junk-science?
If embroyic stem sell research was REALLY such an "amazing medical technique on the verge of a huge breakthrough for curing thousands of ailments such as Altztimer's, paralysis, etc.", you'd see private companies chomping at the bit to fund it so they'd be first in line to take credit for the eminent "cures". There are hundreds of companies with enough funds and clout to do so.
Private companies are "unwilling or unable to invest capital" in embroyic stem cell research because test results have shown very little potential and adult stem cell research is far more promising.
California just threw a couple billion into embroyic stem cell research a few monthes ago. Seen all them great medical cures popping up in California?
Throwing gobs of federal money at problems and hoping it makes them go away is a wasteful, reckless tax-and-spend policy that is not remotely "conservative".
