See, Pro-Life people have to stick to this argument no matter how illogical it is.

So, having called us illogical, you proceed to this:

An embryo is not a human life, but if they admit to that then the abortion debate is a non-issue for the first 8 weeks of pregnancy.

So, then, if a woman has an abortion at 7 weeks six days, it is not killing a human. But the next day, it is.

Talk about illogical.

You can respect Bush43 over Reagan all ytou want. However, on the historic facts, you're deadwrong wrong. Reagan's actions following the Beirut bombings in 1983, didn't make us look weak or cowardly. Besides, Reagan had bigger fish to fry.

Reagan ordered fighter attacks from the aircraft carriers Independence and Kennedy, launched attacks against terrorist sights in Lebanon, in the Bekaa Valley and the Chouf Mountains in retaliation for the Beirut bombing of the Marine barracks. Reagan also ordered the USS New Jersey to shell terrorists outposts within Lebanon. We caused damage to the terrorist camps and killed enemy combatants.

So, Reagan did stand up to the terrorists. What Reagan didn't do, was exacerbate the civil war that was going on in Beirut and all of Lebanon at that time. There were also geopolitical circumstances to consider that involved the Soviets and their support of Syria. An all out war wasn't in the cards.

I think it is interesting that you failed to respond to the main thrust of my post: that other stem cell research has proven MUCH more effective without the nasty side effect of runaway tumor growth you find with ESCR. The "promise of cure" argument is one of the slender reeds used to justify abortion, and any casual viewing of the argument cannot miss it.

Yes, you CAN be anti-abortion and pro-ESCR, but what could be the logic in that, since there is ZERO, NONE, NEGATIVE proven reason to kill humans/embryos/zygotes/tissues when effective uses of adult SC and cord blood SC have already yielded results, and more importantly, are done with the PERMISSION of the persons who are affected?

Again, it is as interesting to consider what you didn't respond to as what you did.

Your brand of thinking is certainly not part of MY reality, and, thankfully ..thinking isn't contagious. We're from completely different galaxies; therefore, this is obviously a conversation at an impasse. But thanks for your comments. I couln't disagree more with their premise.

You are half right. Sperm has half the DNA necessary to form life. However, no matter what conditions it is placed in, it will not spontaneously generate human life on its own.

I respect your view but let's just say we can agree to disagree. All my current and former Marine friends do not respect Reagan for his withdrawal after SLEEPING marines were slaughtered. Call it what you want, it was a withdrawal and too may marines a retreat.

3. The NASDAQ was at 3500 and projected to hit 5000; the Dow was soaring.

As you can see from this chart, NASDAQ approached 5000, and then soared back down below 2500 in the final year of clinton's term as President. So the conditions that led to the downturn of the stock market developed on clinton's watch and Bush inherited those conditions. The market has rebounded from the scandals and downturn from the clinton administration's neglect and the effects of the terrorist attacks in 2001 and are back at approximately the same levels that they were when W took office.

Were you NOT an embryo?

Talk about medical miracles - we have two freepers who seem to have passed the zygote and embryo stage during their development.

4. We had a balanced budget and a surplus!...

The "balanced budget" and "surplus" were always on the horizon, never in the fiscal year budgeted. Even then, the so-called surplus was not really a surplus when you take into consideration the fact that excess SS receipts were being used to fund the current fiscal year.

8 weeks?? A heartbeat can be detected in just a few days.

What about the scripture where God says " I knew you even

BEFORE you were in your mothers womb." Hmmmmmm

Sure we can.

You must travel in very limited company. I know plenty members of the US military, both Air Force and Army personnel, who remember the Beirut bombings very well. The historic facts speak for themselves. What did you and your fellow Marines expect Reagan to do? Invade Beirut? Reagan took appropriate military action, for that time in history and all things considered, it was an adequate response. Lets remember, the Marines were part of a Multi-National Peacekeeping Force and weren't meant to be in Beirut indefinitely. Withdrawal of the Marines was always part of the military plan.

Please enlighten me and tell me where I might find it so I can join with you who worship a zygote and blastocyst that would (and by law in cases where owners demand often are) ordinarily be discarded instead of used for research as, IMHO, perhaps God would want SO WE COULD INDEED SAVE MORE WHO CHOOSE TO LIVE!

The number of references to "test tube" that you will find in the Bible (zero) is equal to the number of promising leads that have been developed from embryonic stem cell research thus far. On the other hand, adult and umbilical cord blood stem cell research has shown positive results for development of treatments for over 70 diseases. But you think God would want us to spend tax dollars on embryonic stem cell research? That sounds more like the foolish steward who buried his one talent to me.

"Yep, it ranks right up there with Nafta,..."

As I have to often remind my union co-workers, it was CLINTON who signed NAFTA into law, not President Bush. Now, even after being told that it was Clinton, not Bush, who signed NAFTA into law, my union co-workers continue to blame NAFTA on Bush and therefore look incredibly stupid. Will you continue to push NAFTA off on Bush and also look incredibly stupid? The choice is yours. Choose wisely.

Islamic terrorists were in their infancy stages during that time. It would have been allot easier then to hunt down the terrorists that killed our troops and bring them to justice, than it is today.

I stand by what I said. I have more repect for President George W Bush than Reagan. Both are/were great men and leaders.

For your lack of military understanding, Air Force and Army personnel are not Marines. Marines have a different mindset, especially when it comes to their own being slaughtered while they sleep.

Osama has publicly stated the withdrawal (retreat) from Beirut and the withdrawal (retreat) from Somalia has strenghened their resolve.
