It is impossible to miss this magnificent structure when you drive by it on I-95.
Some pics at the link.

This is great lead!
Thanks to all Marines.
I just hope this man doesn't show up there to make a speech.

Update ping -
Thanks leadpenny - looks like an excellent day trip.
We received our brick confirmation, but no ticket confirmation to the ribbon cutting ceremony. Anyone have a ticket yet?

This is wonderful! My father-in-law was a career Marine, my husband in the Navy, and my nephew in the Navy. We'll be in the DC area in November and will add this museum to our **must do** list. :o)
Thank you for helping to construct the turn lane!

Yes, indeedy. Don't wanna brag, but our son Josh just graduated from Marine bootcamp in San Diego July 14, platoon 2093. So very proud I can't even put it into words.

Jumping ahead to 1968, visitors will find themselves in a CH-46 helicopter at the Battle of Khe Sanh in Vietnam. This exhibit will be kept at 88 degrees with high humidity to give a sense of the jungle conditions.
Right. That is exactly what I want to experience again.
I wasnt at Khe Sanh, but was medivaced on a CH-46 from Hue. Loved that bird it took a lot of hits and still made it back over the wire at Phu Bai.
Actually, the museum sounds like a pretty good thing.

So very proud I can't even put it into words.
I graduated PI in Dec., 1966 and my platoon photo was sent home. I never saw it. When my mom died in '94 I was going through her belongings and came across the photo.
On the back she had identified me by my location in the photo and added the words, "How proud we were." Made me cry like a baby.

I'd wait until Dec or January to visit. Our Young Marines will be assisting at the opening and we were told they're expecting 35,000 on the opening day and 100,000 over the whole weekend. It's going to be crazy.
Anyone ever affiliated with the Marines wants to be there.
The Museum is located off I95 exit 150, the front gate of Quantico Marine Base, Virginia
