Conservative intellectuals and commentators who once lauded Bush for what they saw as a willingness to aggressively confront threats and advance U.S. interests said in interviews that they perceive timidity and confusion about long-standing problems including Iran and North Korea, as well as urgent new ones such as the latest crisis between Israel and Hezbollah.
"It is Topic A of every single conversation," said Danielle Pletka, vice president for foreign and defense policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute, a think tank that has had strong influence in staffing the administration and shaping its ideas. "I don't have a friend in the administration, on Capitol Hill or any part of the conservative foreign policy establishment who is not beside themselves with fury at the administration."

Bush isn't stupid. And remember, he came to office promising no Clintonesque "nation-building". That's one of the reasons I voted for him -- and it looks like he's learning that it was the right position after all.
Headline should read:
"Liberals and media outlets try to drive wedge in Conservative coalition in runup to 2006 election;
conservative weenies and neo-morons aid and abet in effort"
"And remember, he came to office promising no Clintonesque "nation-building". That's one of the reasons I voted for him -- and it looks like he's learning that it was the right position after all."
Bump to that. Now when exactly are our armed forces going to be pulled out of Kosovo and Bosnia? Bush made a few promises during the 2000 campaign about those places too if I recall correctly.
PS. The article is BS and the only unshocking thing is how you are falling for it ... again.
Hmm, haven't I heard that name before -- Kenneth Adelman? Oh yeah: Ken Adelman, Cakewalk in Iraq, Washington Post, February 13, 2002, p. A27. Right, we really need to listen to "Cakewalk" Adelman, he's been so right in the past.
I'm "falling for" what? Are you saying the quotes in this article are fabricated?
Stop hiding behind the Churchill moniker and out yourself as the Chamberlain buff you are
ARe the quotes fabricated? If they're not, then a number of "neoconservatives" are criticizing Bush for not doing their bidding and starting more wars. That's what they're quoted as saying, in effect. This article is "crap" only if those quotes are fabricated. You call me a "tool" of the Left - sorry I'm a "tool" of the truth.
Any POTUS get handed problems from the previous admin, and leaves problems for the next. I would challenge all the arm chair generals and the intellectuals to "walk a mile in his shoes". I can't say I agree with every decision thats been made, but I dont see anybody with a crystal ball who could have called it better. This war ain't over, and we need to fight it on our terms to win it. POTUS knows better than most of us what needs to happen to keep it on our terms.
......haha.....I love it when someone disagrees they are a tool of the left.....the WaPo is definitely liberal but they have a much better record for the truth then the NY Slimes.....besides....if you don't like it then it must be all lies.....that seems a bit narrow minded to me.....
<< Conservative intellectuals and commentators >>
I'm glad President Bush has finally realized these intellectuals and commentators are irrelevant. He's given them too much credence in the past, and listened to their opinions and comments and criticism and it's hurt our side.
25 million people given a chance at freedom; freely elected government; disperate groups working toward unity; dangerous pan-Arabist deposed; focusing the war on terror in the Middle East rather than the streets of the US. Yeah, it's a mess.
If you believe that? ... I have a bridge to sell you
You can't be a tool of the truth if you use a tool of the left as a tool to smear the right. A tool is a tool is tool.
Thank You Jim! :-)
Dittos. A "conservative" who must lift stuff from the WaPo to make his points for him -- and using an article that glories in the perceived divisions within conservatism -- stands no chance of winning a debate. I get tired of people carrying Pat Buchanan's water for him.
