The Nagpada Police yesterday arrested Mohammed Munna Khan (38) and his wife Shenaz (35) for brutally murdering their daughter Mehnaz (18).
Gulnaz, the younger daughter, was also arrested for abetting the crime. The police had found Mehnaz’s dismembered body stuffed into a plastic sack on a road near the Byculla flyover on July 2.
Love affair
In their confession, the parents told the police that they murdered Menaz as she fell in love with a Hindu boy from the same locality.
An official from Nagpada police station said, “Fearing social stigma over their daughter’s affair, the duo decided to kill her and even convinced their younger daughter to join them in their brutal act.”

He added, “Munna and Shenaz, who reside at a slum in Cuffe Parade, strangled Mehnaz to death. They then chopped off her head along with body parts and took it on a cycle to Byculla where they dumped it. The body was We took several hours just to find out it was a girl.”
The police stumbled upon the duo after seeing the manufacturers name and address on the bag.
“We found out that it was supplied to Munna’s shop in Cuffe Parade. We also came to know that one of their daughters was missing.
After interrogating Munna and Shenaz, they revealed the truth,” said Senior Police Inspector Ashok Durafe. The three will be produced in Mazgaon court today.
Islam has a lot to be blamed for. But this isn't one of them. At least not entirely.
