Or will we get bogged down by leftists, liberals, and Democrats screaming "It's Bush's Fault we are all going to die!!"?

As is Syria. Think about this Mahdi plot. If Iran/Syria/Lebanon go all out against Israel, then all the Shiites and Jews in the region are gone. Who does that leave ? The Sunni. Is the new Shiite Mahdi going to rule over a Sunni world ?

They are fully aware of the wholesale escalation that would commence if they made Israel a glowing hole.
The retaliation, the global economic collapse. Other players becomming involved. Global chaos. The destruction of our way of life.
Trust me, they would use it.

POTUS has said over and over he will protect American citizens no matter what. I think that means even if he has to upset a few liberals.

"The guy is doing everything he can to drive up Oil Prices. He keeps making threats and the prices keep going up"
when the world markets dry up, and nobody needs oil as much, believe me, the rich oil producing countries will be cutting their own throats......I'd like to see that happen.....

detonate their own missiles over their own territory Yup, that would be better. But I am pretty sure that Israel only has missile defenses for the terminal phase of a missile attack. Their systems can't reach a missile launching in Iran, think about what it would take to detect a launch at that distance and how fast the intercept missile would have to travel to reach the target before it left Iranian airspace. Their only choice is to track the incoming targets and fire their interceptors to meet them on the way down.

Iran could be bluffing but they are taking a chance that Israel won't just wait and see what Iran is going to do and will just go ahead and nuke Iran.
Remember the Israeli motto is "never again". I believe that the Israelis are willingly to go all the way to make sure another Holocaust doesn't happen again.
In any case, if this report is true then Iran is playing a dangerous game.
To: Empireoftheatom48
I believe that is the date Iran said they would respond to the incentives/demands by the UN right now.

Israel has Patriot missiles for shooting down incoming missiles. According to a reporter on FOX in Israel, Patriot missiles were not designed to handle the new class of longer range missiles now being fired by Hezbollah. Based on this and if it's true (I never know when the media is accurate), I doubt Israel could protect itself from long range missiles from Iran. Otherwise, incoming missiles would be shot down now.

"Does that mean the Muslims will live in the 8th century for another 1200 years?"
Iran will become the land of the nasty critters; just like the ones in those old Japanese movies.

Even if he were to draw a curtain to reveal an arsenal of Chinese-supplied nuclear missiles he'd still have to fear Israel's response. And I don't think that curtain is going to reveal anything more than hot air.

So, has Iran found a way to give us an excuse to provide quick destruction for her? Will we be spared having to spend many American lives or much of our time to avoid hurting Iranian civilians? Or is Iran only giving us happy thoughts?
