A 21-year-old man in Orlando, Fla., is accused of punching a mounted police horse in the face, according to Local 6 News.

Police said Korey Carter, of 3773 Atrium Drive, was arrested over the weekend and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer.

The report said Carter was observed punching the police horse in the face with Deputy Chief Eugenio Bernal sitting on top of it.

Carter was booked into the Orange County Jail and released on bail.

Disgusting story about the dims thinking about marbles under the hooves. What cretins.

Punching a horse in the face can cause it to lose it's nerve and perhaps make it unreliable while performing police patrols. This is very serious for the horse, for the police force, for the taxpayer too.

I didn't know horses had "faces". I guess the old joke is true: "Why the long face?"

I agree. Cruelty to an animal and endangering a police officer.

Looking at him, it's very easy to think he might do something like this but cops over react sometimes too. It's possible he got too close and though he was going to get bit or something. I think 90 days cleaning stalls and grooming and feeding at a stable (with riding after work) would be a good punishment.

Officer should have turned the horse around and let it "punch" back. When a horse lets fly with it's metal-shod hind legs, it delivers a blow that would be quite suitable for this perp

I got it right on the shin one time. Talk about seein' stars!

Such rules are ridiculous and blur the distinction between human and animal. Not to mention demeaning the citizen by placing him on the same legal level as the overseer's horse.

Well, we are each entitled to his own opinion, and I disagree with yours.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident:that all men are created equal..."

We didn't declare all men and those animals owned by the State to be equal;nor did corporations come to be defined as a person before the law until many years later despite companies and corporations long record of existence.

I believe that which reduces the special status of living humans relative to anything else is a serious mistake. I do not advocate abuse of animals, either.
