The idea of a "two-state solution" with a Palestinian state living alongside Israel was always a pipe dream concocted by secular Westerners. They accept a false doctrine that says the enemies of Israel (and America) can be placated by people they regard as "infidels."
In chronicling the number of armed warriors who joined David at Hebron, there is this exquisite line: "All these men understood the temper of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take." (1 Chronicles 12:32, New Living Translation)
For roughly 4,000 years there has been "unrest" and war in the Middle East. It possibly began when the ancient Israelites drove out the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites and Jebusites. Modern Israel is attempting to drive out Hezbollah-ites, Hamas-ites, Islamic Jihad-ites and the rest.
Nothing has changed, except Israel may be in greater peril today than at any time in its modern history. That is because Israel, often under pressure from its "ally" the United States, has bought into the fiction that says giving Israel's declared enemies the land they demand will cause those enemies to suddenly beat their swords into ploughshares and study war no more. The more Israel gives, the more her enemies feel emboldened to take away. It's called appeasement and it never works.

I'm afraid it is too simple. Even Israel does not claim the West Bank or Gaza is Israel.
There is no national consensus on this issue in Israel.
If Israel thought Gaza and the West Bank was their own they would have moved those in Gaza to Egypt and those in the West Bank to Jordan by now.
Even now, President Bush still talks about a two-state solution. On the other hand, polls in Israel show that a majority of Israelis favor peacefully encouraging non-Israeli arabs to leave.
Today, Israel's body politic is unified in a way never seen since 1967, with more than 80% of Israelis supporting the war with Hamas/Hezballah.
It is my fervent hope that this national unity in Israel, at long last, may enable Israel to initiate a program to relocate the Palestinian arab refugees dwelling in temporary homes west of the Jordan and get them into permanent homes elsewhere. Of course, Prime Minister Olmert never has embraced this idea, and Defense Minister (and Labor leader) Peretz comes from the leadership of Peace Now, so the leadership would have to be pulled by tyhe body politic before it will get behind this idea.
It may turn out that Benny Alon, who proposed a similar plan some years ago, simply was ahead of his time. Here is a link to his plan: http://www.therightroadtopeace.com/eng/DefaultEng.html
Israel PING !
Neither amazing nor did he just figure it out.
He deserves much more credit.
He always knew.
When I used to read his opinions all during the 90's, I marveled that this Christian clearly understood the obvious while the idiot Jews in the Israeli Government were making "peace" deals and later just making surrender deals with themselves.
Unfortunately, they are so odious no one wants them.
They had refuges in Jordan and Egypt. Both countries were forced to kill tens of thousands of Palis and expel the rest after they attempted to overthrow their governments.
Kuwait imported them as cheap labor; when the Iraqis invaded they aided and collaborated with the Iraqi invaders.
NOBODY wants these people.
Other possibilities would include one or our Pacific islands, or somewhere in the Liakhov or Novo-Sibirsk chain in the arctic circle if Russia or the US could be prevailed upon to spare such a place.
One other possibility would be Saturn's little moon Iapetus, i.e. the little moon with the wall around it, which clearly used to be some sort of an abode for a$$holes since somebody built the wall to keep a$$holes on on e side of it. Putting the palis there would be nothing more than putting it back to its original purpose.
