BEIRUT Thousands of Americans whose vacations and business trips to Lebanon have degenerated with sickening speed into stints in a battle zone remained stranded here under Israeli bombardment Monday, their frustration and anger mounting because the U.S. government hasn't gotten them out faster.
Waiting around Beirut with bags packed and fingers crossed, U.S. citizens derided the embassy for busy phone lines, a lack of information and gnawing uncertainty over when and whether they will get out. Hundreds were expected to be shipped to Cyprus today, but how long the full evacuation will take remains uncertain.

Point out one single post where Rebel has trashed the military. This is an outrageous misinterpretation of Rebel's posts. Outrageous.
The State Department IS a bunch of bumbling fools. Where the heck have you been that you don't know this?
And it's simply a fact that France has rescued far more citizens than America has rescued.
A LOT of people aren't pleased that Israel closed the port and made rescue efforts more difficult; but to characterize this freeper the way he's been characterized is disgusting and dishonest.
Pfffh. You aren't worth the effort.
Peach, you meant the IMF, right?
Yes, thank you. I meant IMF. I have to leave shortly and will leave other posters to absolutely destroy these live threads by attacking a freeper who is trying to help a fledgling democracy in Lebanon and is frustrating and likely quite scared, although since he's a guy, he won't admit that.
I've said my piece and have noted which freepers haven't got a single solitary Christian bone in their bodies, despite their holier than thou attitudes.
You are right and that is why I said they don't care as long as they have their passport.
I wonder how many cars are being burned a night lately there?
Hope you are safely evacuated by this point. I don't understand why you didn't stick with your IMF contingency. But that's neither here nor there at this point. The State Department is not an evacuation machine. With such a large number of possible evacuees in a warzone, someone had to decide if the military needed to provide cover and how much military. Military assets for such an operation don't just fly into a warzone. And warships that are already on a mission don't just change course with the snap of a finger. It usually takes a few days because it would be stupid to not think things out and lose a ship along with a bunch of potential hostages.
When I do my trips to the Balkans, I expect potential problems to arise and expect it. When it comes to signing in with DoS, you do it. It is the best thing as it covers you. If there is a line, you jump ahead to the front if they are lined with locals.
"None of us have been in your situation ---"
Wrong - Been in that situation more than once. Rode shanks mare for 34 days once, rather than wait for someone to bail me out.
Is it safe to assume that those of us who are praying for Rebel's safety, and pointing out that he's wrong to blame Israel and the USA, are the ones you have chosen to burn in hell?
Well, now you're just lying again, which is to be expected of you.
IIRC, the IMF contingency evacuated to Syria. If that's right, he was smart not stick with them.
I'm with you!
It was a question. Are you accusing me of lying about praying? That would be right in character for you, wouldn't it?
Is that or is that not your post? Why yes. Yes it is.
I'm leaving but when I come back I'll expect for you to post for all to see where it is I chose anyone to burn in hell as you so quaintly put it, or forevermore show yourself to be the liar you've previously shown yourself to be.
That is, if you are even being truthful, which I doubt.
Exactly so. There have been many, many misrepresentations made about Rebel's posts over the last few days and if posters can't make a point without lying, they must not have much of a point to begin with.
Most of these freepers are troublemakers on other threads and just love pulling their little holier than thou acts.
With that said, I have to run and will hope to hear in the coming days that Rebel is successfully taken out of a war zone.
I Agree with Peach 100% On this situation & her observations on the Duke case are 100% Accurate ; )
