I'm starting to think that not 1 reporter in 100 either knows the truth or is reporting the truth.

The Senate Bipartisan Committee reported that what Joe Wilson was reporting privately in closed door sessions to Congress actually bolstered the Bush administration's position that Iraq was trying to purchase uranium.

The bipartisan committee report that shows Wilson lied about what he found in Niger: http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=21844942

The panel found that Wilson's report, "rather than debunking intelligence about purported uranium sales to Iraq, actually bolstered the case for most intelligence analysis." http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A39834-2004Jul9

To this day, British intelligence maintains that Saddam Hussein sought uranium in Africa, recently underlined by a report from The Financial Times of London. The British government states "European intelligence officers have now revealed... human and electronic intelligence sources from a number of countries picked up repeated discussion of an illicit trade in uranium from Niger." The New York Times paraphrased the above with a clear-cut story titled: "Intelligence Backs Claim Iraq Tried to Buy Uranium." The essay leaves no doubt as to the claim of Bush in January 2003 that Saddam Hussein was not only was trying to procure uranium, but had been for years. http://www.nytimes.com/financialtimes/business/FT1087373295002.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

Wilson misled the Washington Post in June 2003, when he told the paper that the Niger intelligence was based on documents that had clearly been forged because "the dates were wrong and the names were wrong." In fact, Wilson had never seen the reports.

When the Senate committee staff asked Wilson how he could have come to that conclusion, Wilson replied that he may have "misspoken" (See first paragraph) to reporters. http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A39834-2004Jul9 The MSM signed an amicus brief saying there was no crime in the Plame leak:

36 major news organizations and professional reporters' groups (including CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, Reuters, The Associated Press, The Tribune Company, The Washington Post, The New York Press Club and The White House Corespondents) insisted that "no crime" had been committed in the "Plame Leak" case because, among other things, Valerie Plame's identity had previously been disclosed to both the Russians and the Cubans!

This despite saying the other day during his press conference he wouldn't be giving interviews

That's because he can't stand being openly mocked by so many pundits in regards to the lawsuit.

The Washington Post surveys the damage done by the Plame leak, and delivers this reassurance:

There is no indication, according to current and former intelligence officials, that the most dire of consequences -- the risk of anyone's life -- resulted from her outing.

Bob Woodward's leaked version was even more reassuring:

WOODWARD: ... They did a damage assessment within the CIA, looking at what this did that Joe Wilson's wife was outed. And turned out it was quite minimal damage. They did not have to pull anyone out undercover abroad. They didn't have to resettle anyone. There was no physical danger to anyone and there was just some embarrassment.

The WaPo also presents a garbled paragraph that is more compelling in the re-edited version picked up by Newsday:

The CIA will not conduct a formal damage assessment until legal proceedings are complete.

Is that how it works when our national security is threatened and lives are on the line - the CIA waits a few years until the trials are over, then assesses the damage?

These are just two out of many people who said that Wilson outed his own wife in the Fox Green Room in 2002: Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely and Lt. General Tom McInerney

And then there is the matter of the bios. Wilson published the NYT editorial stating that he had a project with the CIA (that focused on her particular area of expertise) which was in itself a significant risk to his wife's supposed cover because at least 3 of Wilson's bios on the internet listed Valerie Plame by name as his wife. One of those bios, dated 2002 can be found here.

I can actually feel my blood sugar rising, just thinking about the syrupy sweet lovefest that's going to happen here.

Oh, I'm so glad you posted that here. Saved to my Wilson file. I hadn't realized that he told THAT many lies.

After he announced his lawsuit (or rather, Valerie's lawsuit), the leftists in the media were smirking and laughing at him. You know it's over when his own fellow leftists are laughing.

Olberman will probably be nice to Wilson, but last week (Friday, I think) Olberman was openly laughing at Wilson's lawsuit.

When I think "live thread", I think 'Space Shuttle Discovery to Lift Off Today!' or 'Texas Longhorns to Humiliate USC in Epic Battle!'. I'm sorry, when I saw your title, I really saw 'Turd to be on Piss Island in five!'
