FoxNews is semi-retracting the report of troops entering Lebanon.
Supposedly, troops went in, but have already come back out, because the area appeared to be heavily mined.
Someone on MSNBC saying they saw something (perhaps a rocket he said) spinning and then impact in Beirut. He is also reporting celebrations.
MSNBC has video from Al Jaz. (and apparently the guy on the ground in Beirut has tape they took of a similar thing) showing something spiraling crashing.
He (and Israeli sources) saying they do not believe it was a plane or aircraft, but they believe that falling object is what is causing all the celebration.
All the wires are picking it up now.
Could a wedge play to set up evacuations, since Britian's ships should be off the coast by now.

Interesting article, thanks, just having morning coffee trying to catch up on the latest news. Unfortunately there appears to be conflicting news about any ground assault and whether it is escalating.

Surprising, if true. Most professional military organizations send Spec-Ops troops in first to check things like that out.
(Go Israel Go! Slap 'em down Hezbullies.)
Still not clear from reports what it was.
Wow...first time today that I've seen Tobin with the vest on......
But the two rockets that impacted about 20 minutes ago there are NO injuries reported so far.
I guess the siren must have gone off during the break since something prompted him to put the jacket on...which he was NOT wearing during that round that impacted and we saw behind him.
Christianne (sp?) on CNNi appears to be broadcasting very near Tobin b/c they seem to have a similar view of the city.
Again saying that these rockets are going further since they are making it from Sour/Tyre to Haifa.
That's what I just saw on Al Arabiya. But the stories as to what it was are conflicting.
I'm in H-town also, Allegra. Be safe!

I know, it was getting ridiculous!
I agree generally, but IDF did go into Ramailla to surround Arafat's compound in broad daylight.
Clearly, there is conflicting informations here.
Patience, early reports give way to later reports which sometimes match and sometimes don't.
FYI
MSNBC gives okay for Shuttle to land.

Over on the other thread (about the Israeli forces on the ground) one of our Freepers over there is reporting a phone message about this incident.

I don't believe Hezbollah has good enough coordination to pull off a time on target missile attack. Recent attacks have come in several small waves.
More from JPost:
A government spokesman said Monday afternoon that IDF ground forces have entered southern Lebanon to attack Hizbullah bases along the border in order to push the terrorist group out of rocket-firing range.
The IDF, however, said that troops had entered the village of Ghajar, which straddles the Israeli-Lebanese border and cuts the village in half with one half on the Israeli side and the other half on the Lebanese side.
The army said that troops there were constructing a barrier wall around the entire village with the intent of including it entirely in Israel.
In addition, the IDF has denied Lebanese news reports that an Israeli F-16 jet was downed near Beirut. Virtually all Lebanese news agencies were showing unclear video footage of what was claimed to be the downed jet.
Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz told the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee earlier Monday that some 100 Air Force jets were currently operating above Lebanon, and would continue to do so indefinitely.
According to the IDF, fighter jets, along with Navy gun boats, targeted a weapons warehouse, a Hizbullah outpost, and areas of southern Lebanon that are used to fire rockets at Israel. A bridge located south of Beirut was also hit.
It was a leaflet pod the morons are jumping about.
