On the campaign trail and in her literature, U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris boasts that, as a freshman member of Congress, she passed the American Dream Downpayment Act, "enabling 4.5 million low-income workers to own their first home while growing the U.S. economy by $256 billion."
Federal reports indicate Harris' claims are grossly exaggerated.
A Government Accountability Office report issued June 30 found that, through 2005, only $98.5 million of the $211 million Congress appropriated had been used by local governments to help more than 13,000 low-income families buy new homes far below her claim of 4.5 million.
Harris also has taken projections of the Bush administration's goals for expanding minority homeownership and used them as the basis of her claims for the economic impact of the American Dream Downpayment Act.
Harris' congressional spokesman, Gerry Fritz, conceded Wednesday that the claims in her campaign literature were inaccurate.

By itself, this KH blooper really isn't all that important. In fact, one can say that the article is nitpicking.
But take this together with all of Harris's fumbles, stumbles, and gaffes, and you have a portrait in ineptitude.
Katherine Harris is rapidly turning into a caricature.
The latest gaffe.
maybe the horse pics will cheer us up.
I thought about that pic when I saw "Katherine Harris" and "pads" together.
I hat to say it but it is really over.
She did not just loose to Nelson, she finished off her career.
If I were a liberal Floridian running for public office, I would want to run against Katherine Harris.
I'm growing weary of Katherine Harris threads, and am no longer commenting on them. She's having surgery on Monday, and I hope the thing on her ovary is benign.
I do not believe she has a prayer of winning this election, so I hope she is well and can figure out something else to do with her life.
I certainly bear her no ill will.
Is it too late for Gallagher to run for the Senate? Perhaps if Harris must bow out for some unforeseen reason?
Maybe if we do a write in.
Tom Gallagher's campaign has also imploded, due to conflict of interest charges and details of a messy divorce. Charlie Crist has pulled ahead of him by an overwhelming margin.
No amount of money is spent immediately. This is starting to take the form of a vendetta, and it may backfire on the libs.
It's all moot anyway. Harris will win and the bashers will find a new hobby to waste their time with.
Which is yet another reason he should be running for the Senate, and not Governor.
This country is "imploding" caused by flagrant lawbreaking by our own "elected" officials. Unpunished I might add.
Yes yes yes, some expendable pol takes the bullet now and then, I know. It's all part of the bread and circuses put out for all to see.
We are all 2nd class citizens now. $top $upporting thi$ rape of our country by it'$ own government and $ee what happen$.
I waste my breath.

It never quits with that woman. I think if she told me the sky was blue, I would go check!

I always feel better after seeing this pic...
Well, y'all just go right ahead and re-elect your local commissar, Mr. Nelsonov. But I don't want to hear one stinking word from you guys about how bad he is the next six years.
Amazing how we are told to support the McCain's and Giuliani's around here but Harris has to be so stinking perfect.
This race is becoming like in 2004 where Obama handily beat Keyes.
Oh well.
We can't win them all, but it's important to preach conservative ideals out there even if we lose sometimes.
Bipolar, maybe?
How about sane? Is that too much to ask?
