A senior IDF officer said the ship was struck by an Iranian-made C802 missile, but he refused to say whether or not Iranian activists were behind the launching itself.
The army said two C802 missiles were fired at the vessel; the first missed the ship and struck an Egyptian boat some 60 kilometers (37 miles) off the Lebanon coast.
The stern of the ship was hit shortly after 8:30 p.m. Friday night and a conflagration ignited on the helicopter landing pad. The hit also damaged the ships internal operating systems.

How can we evacuate civilians from Lebanon if they are firing Silk missiles from shore ?
Pretty nasty little piece of work:

According to a South Korean government source, North Korea helps Iran improve the accuracy of the target identification system of its C801 and C802 naval cruise missiles.
The Iranian Navy hopes to improve its coastal defense and anti-ship capability with the joint program. Iran received about half of the 150, 80-mile-range C802s ordered from China before the supply was frozen in 1997. In the early 1990s, Iran purchased the 30-mile-range C801 missile from China. The C802 closely resembles France's Exocet missile, but the French manufacturer, Aerospatiale, denies any technology exchange took place.
If you have a look at the source, theres a video clip on the page of the missile being launched from the shore.
So did the Ayatollahs make this missile or is it a Silkworm bought from China

In looking that up, I had forgotten USS Starke got hit and nearly sunk by a pair of Exocets in 1987-- the Israeli gunboat was lucky to survive.
What I've heard this morning from FOX among others- is this seems to have been a Chinese silkworm, fired with the assistance of the roughly 100 Iranians on the ground working with Hizbollah.
This development could potentially be significant.
It may be imported, or Iranian built, but either way it's Iranian military hardware, not something in Hezbollahs arsenal.
CNN monitors many Arab TV stations/websites. (Just caught this off the TV). They said Iranian soldiers are in Lebanon, and that they helped launch a strike against an Israeli minibus.
Bingo, and now according to CNN, they've hit an Israeli minibus, too.
I'm just catching up but I asssume what we thought was a UAV loaded with explosives yesterday we now know to be a full blown missile.
Correct? Or am I mixing up events?
Why did they not fire another missile ? Was it not dead in the water ? Perhaps we got an Iranian sub sleeping off the med coast ?
?
I would imagine thats a very conservative estimate of iranians on the ground.
This is going to heat up quick this weekend.
That UAV Drone attack story is a little shaky. This Iranian Silkworm story fits into what happened better. We are getting more confirmations of it. Not 100 % yet.
Read the article again. They did fire a second missile, but it hit an Egyptian boat 37 miles away, locked onto the wrong target.
Correct. Watch the video embedded on the source article, it clearly shows the missile being launched.
