A wounded Israeli girl is taken by ambulance after a Katyusha-style rocket attack in the northern Israeli village of Meiron July 14, 2006.

Smoke rises and debris fly from a bridge as it is targeted by an Israeli air raid, in the Zahrani region, on the Mediterranean coast, southern Lebanon, Friday, July 14, 2006. Israel tightened its seal on Lebanon, blasting its air and road links to the outside world and bringing its offensive to the capital for the first time Friday in order to punish Hezbollah _ and with it, the country _ for the capture of two Israeli soldiers.

I frankly believe Syria and Iran have been in it since the start. Lebanon is just a proxy.

US allies Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan indirectly accused Hizbullah on Friday of harming Arab interests but also condemned the Israeli assault on Lebanon The remarks came amid fears of a wider regional conflict after President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad boasted Friday that Israel was not powerful enough to take on Iran and warned the Jewish state not to attack regional ally Syria. While not naming Hizbullah, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Jordan's King Abdul-lah II warned of the risk of "the region being dragged into 'adventurism' that does not serve Arab interests," according to a joint statement published by Amman's official...

A source within the Palestinian Authority revealed Friday that Fatah and Hamas factions are allied with Hizbullah terrorists. The connection is not new, said the source, who asked to remain unnamed. IDF sources added that Iran manufactured and supplied Hizbullah with the long-range rockets that have been hitting Haifa and other areas since Thursday. "The Lebanese resistance movement, Hizbullah, and now its General Secretary Hassan Nasrallah, have affirmed commitment to aiding the Palestinians against Israeli attacks," the Palestine News Network (PNN) reported Thursday. A spokesman for the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the military wing of the Fatah faction headed by...

Family of U.S. professor arrested in Israel requests information on his detentionhttp://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&pubid=968163964505&cid=1152913811964&col=968705899037&call_page=TS_Canada&call_pageid=968332188774&call_pagepath=News/Canada

Canadian professor detained in Israel Jul. 14, 2006. 08:24 PM

ASSOCIATED PRESS

WADSWORTH, Ohio — The family of an Israeli-Canadian professor who was arrested in Israel appealed to that country's government Friday for information about his detention.

"We need to know where he is, why he's being held," said Naail Falah, 23, son of Ghazi Falah, a geography professor at the University of Akron who writes about Israel's borders and those of a potential Palestinian state.

Falah, who has dual Israeli and Canadian citizenship, was arrested last Saturday on a beach south of the Israel-Lebanon border, his family said.

Israeli police and Israel's embassy in the United States were not able to provide any information about Falah on Friday. Joshua Silverberg, an embassy spokesman, said government offices in Israel were closed for the Sabbath.

Falah previously has been accused of using academic settings to advance anti-Israel political ideas.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean at the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, said there has to be a reason beyond Falah's writings for his arrest.

"I doubt that Israel would detain someone with an academic affiliation. There has to be more to it," he said.

In 2002, the centre issued a criticism of a paper Falah had written.

His son said Falah was taking photographs in a tourist district when he was taken into custody. His arrest occurred before hostilities began this week between Israel and Hezbollah militants based in South Lebanon.

Falah had left for Haifa, Israel's third-largest city, on July 4 to visit his mother in hospital and had taken a break to visit a beach.

"He's a good person. It's not in his nature to bring harm on his family," Naail Falah said.

The U.S. State Department, Canadian officials and Falah's brother in Haifa have tried to obtain information about his detention.

U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack could only confirm Falah is an Israeli citizen.

Ghazi Falah's wife, Jamila, said not knowing what happened to her husband is difficult.

"It's very tough, it's very hard," she said.

"We're trying to do our best."

Naail Falah said the family became even more concerned after the outbreak of fighting in South Lebanon. Hezbollah missiles hit Haifa on Wednesday.

"That's what's scary. That's what's bothering us," he said.

Falah has worked at the University of Akron for five years. University spokesman Ken Torisky declined comment Friday about Falah.

From talking to the pink clad klansmen (code pinkos) I see that they're ratcheting up their hatred of Israel. The idiot I was talking to claims that Israel just started bombing Lebanon for no reason.
