At the invitation of Chancellor Angela Merkel, President Bush traveled to northeastern Germany in advance of his participation in the G-8 Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia. Chancellor Merkel hosted President Bush today in the towns of Stralsund and Trinwillershagen, which are in the Chancellor's electoral constituency. The visit, which took place in what had been communist East Germany, underscores our two nations' commitment to advancing freedom and prosperity, and to strengthening the transatlantic partnership.
The President and the Chancellor took part in a joint press conference in the Straslund Town Hall, and the President also spoke in the historic market square. The First Lady visited a Kinderbibliothek (Children's Library) and toured Straslund City Archives and Baroque library, and attended a luncheon.
The First Couple visited St. Nikolai Church and toured it with Pastor Peter Neumann, and later traveled to the village of Trinwillershagen on the German Baltic Sea for a wild pig barbecue.
In tumultuous times it is reassuring to have a President who stands firm on principle and in strength of conviction and courage. Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on a MONSTER Dose!
If it helps, I do yoga and pilates in the coolness of an air conditioned house while watching television and that, along with a little aerobics, helps with the stress level when I can't get out. It will help you sleep better too, if you can find a way to do exercising in the safety of your place, Kate.
And if you can sleep better, the stress level will be more manageable. But in the interim, it's quite understandable that you are stressed. I know that I would be getting a dog and better locks and thinking about all sorts of issues we don't like to have to think about.
I'll keep you in my thoughts Kate and pray for your safety.
WOW, Great pics today, Thank you so much
It's unthinkable pain.
ROFLMAO
I turn the lobster around so I don't have to look at it, but fish eyes give me the creeps. LOL!
Thanks for stopping by, apples. I'm about ready to hit the hay myself!
I quite like game including wild duck and rabbit.
If you come out with your dau. next month you will see the USS Reagan which come back from the Middle East last week.
You can send some of that rain out here. The past few months, blue sky 70s to low 80s here on the coast.
Yesterday caluvdubya and I took the ferry across to Coronado rather than the San Diego - Coronado Bay bridge.
Water in the low 70s.
Not too bad actually been quite a good week. Went out yesterday for an Indian meal and have treated myself to an exercise bike on Ebay so weight lose and fitness program on at present.
Post 55 had me rolling on the floor!
Talk about nerve wracking!
But the thing we noticed most (it was with my college choir) was that even the Christians didn't smile. The folks at St Thomas Kirche in Leipzig told us quietly not to believe anything anyone said.........that living there was horrible.
It made a deep impression about the evil of communism on my 18 year old mind (first trip).
Maybe that's part of the reason I never veered to the left in college.......
God bless our fine Secret Service, always plentiful and on alert to protect our great President and Laura abroad.
And you're most welcome for the Dose!
Too bad we can't shoot them. :)
Are you coming up with us on the 22nd to the Reagan Library?
LOL!!
What an amazing inside look into such a disastrous and corrupt regime.
Joining the military at 18 and having very conservative parents made a big impact on me.
They caught my eye on this photo as well, Starwise. I am so thankful for their bravery!
He has fun no matter where he is. And Laura does too. :)
Thank you kindly, sir! You're welcome!
