Thanks. We're all watching it very closely. We have a couple of Lebanese (Christian) employees who are on IMs with people back in Lebanon and are giving us live information.
For now, I'm hanging in here. If this spreads to any other countries, I'm going to get out.
Thanks. Now one of the great mysteries of life has been cleared up for me. :)
The other is that I find it a little hard to believe Syria and Iran could hate AQ/Hezbollah enough to let Israel steamroller them in spite of Z's "trickery" especially since both countries seem to have supported Z's efforts in Iraq and Hezbollah's against Israel. To cut off previous support to these groups is a major change of heart on the part of Iran and Syria, so major I don't trust it to be genuine. If this is the case this outcome is a big setback for them, and will probably be used against Israel/the West later. I can imagine Syria/Iran feel to good about, nor will forget about a setback like this at all.
This is what I love about Free Republic is the humor that is often injected into some very tense situations.
Just add lots of butter, bacon and cream to what ever recipe you have been using.
Paula has to be the poster girl for the Butter/Bacon industry.
Absolutely. Needed at times. Also shows the difference between us and Loony Left web sites. I challenge you to find clean humor in most - let alone substantive news and comments.
Great tagline, BTW;)
We're at 90% as of last night.
It is easier to use key words rather than a live thread.
The keyword for the events that have happened in Israel is:
2006ISRAELWAR
Go to the top of this thread, high light "2006ISRAELWAR" and click it with your mouse.
Then you will have every thread posted re the current 2006 Israeli war: 2006ISRAELWAR
This thread shows the capability and vitality of Free Republic.
Everyone, who uses Free Republic should be a regular donor or a monthly donor.
Yep, the thread "ain't been pulled yet"!
One of the foxes that call our back deck their home, apparently came close to catching a wild turkey shortly before I started posting.
Nothing like a startled and screaming wild turkey close to your open bedroom window to start the day with the fox hissing and snarling. I might patent that noise for a super alarm system to wake up people. Now we a dove cooing outside, which is my normal wakeup call at about 6 am.
Agreed, but IRAN is about purging the leadership, not the people.... IRAN if they did this, is going to pay a heavy price... Israel will not sit by, and finally we have an administration in Washington who won't try to stop them from defending themselves.
Dio has one of his great pictorial threads re what is happening in this phase of 2006Israelwar:

Are they playing word games?
Or they being *fooled* into thinking Iran and Syria are behind it all?
If those saying this really believe it - and it is not true - then Z's plan is working.
I can't believe the US for one has fallen for Z's trickery so why did we say Iran and Syria are ulimately responsible? It's possible the US and Israel are blaming Syria and Iran as a ploy, to make them think we fell for Z's trickery, but what would be the sense of that?
It would help If we knew for sure if there are Iranians currently working with Hezbollah in Lebanon, if there are one would think it would be a huge deal for Iran to hang them out to dry with Hezbollah - making what you are saying less likely to be the case IMO. If Iran has managed to pulled them out and is hanging Hezbollah only out to dry then what you are saying is more likely to be the case.
If Iran is truely torqued by Z's trickery surely they would have pulled any Iranians working with Hezbollah.
"It would help If we knew for sure if there are Iranians currently working with Hezbollah in Lebanon,"
here's some proof from last summer: (the link to the original Haaretz article is down)

Israel demands withdrawal of Iranian Guard
Ze'ev Schiff, Haaretz:
Israel has informed a number of countries, including the United States and France, that the demand for the withdrawal of Syrian forces from Lebanon, in keeping with the UN Security Council decision, will not be complete if it doesn't also lead to the departure of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps members, who have been in Lebanon for a long time and are providing assistance to Hezbollah's military wing. read more
Israel's official position is that the Syrian forces deployed in Lebanon are not the only foreign army in that country. Despite the fact that the Syrian force is a large one, and includes numerous units and an extensive intelligence set-up, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards play a significant and negative military role in Lebanon - a role that undermines Lebanese sovereignty.
The individuals in question are a group of dozens, perhaps more, of Iranian military officers and experts.
Very interesting analysis. Different angle from what I believe to be happening, but possible valid. I will remember that.
The next move in this game is Iran's and India's. If India moves against Pakistan, things will get more complicated in a hurry.
Nonviolent non-wahabi muslims??????Take just a little time to read the koran and then skim through islamic terrorism's history. Even if you just skim through the 1970's, 80's and 90's there is no you could remain that naive. Shiite islam is just as evil and blood thirsty.
Islam is the problem not just some bloody sect of it.
Yeah I've read that stuff, what I want to know is if Iranians are there now, if there are Iranians there now then the Southack senario has Iran hanging them out to dry, unless they are rogue Iranian elemets. That doesn't seem likely military advisors for years. If Iran is hanging their own people out to dry in Lebanon, that reflects a major screwup of their part. If they believed Z's letters surely they would have pulled their people out of Lebanon before letting Israel steamroller Hezbolla in retailiation for becoming a tool for Z trickery.
should read; That doesn't seem likely since Iran ahs been supplying arms military advisors to Hezbolla for years.
