Friend, sometimes a "peacemaker" has to use fully automatic weapons.

Remember Revelation 19; Jesus is coming back on a war horse with his white robe dipped in blood. There WILL be peace when he's done, but his FIRST order of business is going to be WAR.

Since, that's how Jesus will "make" peace, we cannot take it upon ourselves to legalistically proscribe violence as a means to "make" peace. Such a proscription would mean that Christ himself would be in violation of it in the manner of his return. Since we know of a certainty that he will not be violating scriptural injunctions at his return, we can be certain that Matthew 5:9 is not an injunction against use of violent means in the promotion of peace.
