Thanks for the post and transcript, Peach, and for the help you gave, "Lets Be Frank"...it helped me also.

Howlin, thanks for the ping and for sharing pictures of your mother. She looked like she enjoyed life, and I bet she made it more enjoyable for others.

Rather has no one to blame for his downfall except himself. Freepers just pointed out the truth about his lies. (BTW Has anyone seen or heard of Mary Mapes lately? Not that I really care, just wondering.)

You're probably right about Armitage but I really want it to be Powell.

Novak did say that he thought The Person should come out...he also hedged over whether Mr. X was still in government or not.

It must really hurt that all their big guns they thought would destroy Bush have failed like that Korean missile.

Watching the show tonight made me amazed all over again at how this non-story has dominated the news for so long.

In one sense, it is not a non-story. Kerry friend Valerie gets foppy, unemployed husband sent on a gig to Niger for which he is totally unqualified. He files no formal report and no one in the administration sent him.

He writes a critical and (probably lying) column for the NY Times which causes people like Novak to wonder why this dork was sent in the first place.

In pursuing this question, Novak finds out that Wilson's wife got him the job. He finds out her name from Wilson's own who's who article. She is not covert and he was not cautioned not to mention her, so he did.

And we've had a 3 year investigation costing who knows how much?

Well, we all knew how much the Clinton investigation cost, didn't we? It was reported on a daily basis.

There is so much fraud going on with this Fitzgerald investigation, I can't even ...

oh, well.

So do I, but I don't think he has the guts to come clean.

I'm sure others pointed this out on the thread, but that description certainly rules out VP Cheney, along with most other high-ranking administration officials, I would think.

It does rule in Colin Powell. I can't think of another person who knew about Plame and is high enough in the pecking order so that Novak would have a hard time getting an appointment. Novak revealed that he had a hard time getting an appointment. Novak also revealed that the appointment lasted for an hour.

And who could not risk calling Novak to tell him that revealing Wilson's wifes roll in hiring Wilson was an inadvertent slip. He sent a 3rd party to tell Novak? That is a huge risk. Whoever the source is, he could not risk contacting Novak directly on the phone.

Why... could it be that there is a log kept of all calls made by the sources office? If the source spent a lot of time talking to media types, a call to Novak would not stand out. That tells me it is someone who talks to the press using press conferences and/or spokespersons. That has to be a cabinet level Source.

That Just screams Powell. Cabinet level officers who know about Wilson's wife..hmmmm that sort of narrows it down.. doesn't it.

Note that Novak said he met with his primary source alone .. with no witnesses. If that be the case who told Fitmas the name of the source. It had to be the source or the third party who denied the source revealed the identity on purpose.

How did Novak know the President knew who the source was? Did the third person tell Novak? Or did Fitzmas tell Novak? That is very strange.

It smells like Powell to me. It may also explain why Powell is no longer Secretary of State.

Perhaps the next Republican president will learn from this. The dem party and the drive by media will be out to destroy you and they don't care if they destroy this country to do it. Do not give them one inch.

Novak stammers too much. Makes him hard to follow sometimes...

Yeah, Novak was making me nervous. He's definitely past his tv years, can't really articulate his thoughts well.

He's probably okay writing his column, I don't read it much.

I didn't see anything about Novak and his revelations about the Wilson/Plame lies on Drudge.

Does anyone know if Tucker Carlson is still on MSNBC? He use to say all this "leak" stuff was a bunch of junk.

Remember Fitzgerald was touted as a tough Republican.

I don't know where you got that .. Fitzgerald was never painted with any party's brush; on the contrary, he was always described as apolitical.

Powell and Armitage resigned about the same time so I have even more reason to believe it was one or the other.
