Times' Crime Slime 'Treason' Hearings
NY Post ^ | July 12, 2006 | NILES LATHEM

Posted on 07/12/2006 6:13:00 AM PDT by IrishMike

The New York Times came under heavy fire yesterday for disclosing a secret program that tracks terror financing - with a top Treasury Department official calling the leak "very damaging," and an influential Republican labeling the disclosure "treason." Criticism of a June 23 front-page story on the secret program, which gives the Bush administration access to a huge database of international financial transactions, intensified at a hearing yesterday of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

"I think, frankly, it's treason," fumed Rep. Michael Oxley (R-Ohio), chairman of the Financial Services Committee.

"Nobody is happier about these revelations than those who would do us harm," Oxley added also citing other recent "unauthorized," disclosures of secret counter-terror programs.

Stuart Levey, the Treasury Department's undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, revealed under questioning by panel chairwoman Rep. Sue Kelly (R-N.Y.) that his agency is in consultations with the Justice Department about possibly launching a criminal probe into the disclosure.

"This disclosure compromised one of our most valuable programs and will only make our efforts to track terrorist financing - and to prevent terrorist attacks - harder," Levey said.

THERE MUST be an investigation...if Fitzgerald pee'd away the millions on the Plame/Wilson investigation and got nothing, this should be a priority of this committee. Let's see how well these politicians serve our Country and protect our security....

ping that list of 4.
Add SCOTUS as #5,
until we get at least one or two more picks.

I might suggest refining number 4 to Liberals or what the Democratic party here calls being a liberal which isn't really accurate since they are not tolerant or open to any views but their own.

There have been some Democrats that don't fit that mold, and a considerable number of Republicans that do.

Call me a cynic, but nothing was done to the Chicago Trib reporting the break in the Japanese Code (which the enemy left unaltered)and the Rainbow 5 war plans , so I doubt no more than lip service will be done to punish the Times. However, the Japanese may not have been reading the Trib at the time; but the present day enemy sure does read the media and play directly to it.

And with the bias of the majority of the MSM against W and the GOP, the terrorists actually study and use DRat talking points, which the Media play up and dring like coolaid.

I am hoping they don't stop at the Times. They must find out who is doing the leaking and punish them. I am willing to bet a lot of the leakers have (D) by their name.

As Clinton was leaving office, he converted a number of political appointees to civil service status. Should start with those turds.

Thanks. Saw it this morning. I hope we helped. The rally should have been even bigger. It should have been impossible to get into 43rd Street. Where is the outrage. Everybody smoking pot.

We definitely helped because the images of the rally made it possible for the media to cover the story. And media coverage (for better or worse) galvanizes politicians to act. I think the turn-out was amazing given that there is absolutely no history of protests by conservative groups in New York City. The leftist scum demonstrate practically every day in Union Square so they have an established moonbat network. You were breaking new ground. Next time, the turn out will be bigger and even more boisterous. Be happy. You done good.

We have been demonstrating in NYC since 2000, as I detailed to someone on a previous thread.

Great to meet you yesterday! We have been demonstrating in New York City since 2000. Started with Hillary. The pace picked up with three big demonstrations over the disputed election results later that year, and we have done many, many other, smaller ones.

The mother of all was March 2003, a few days after the start of the war, where we went on and on for blocks, down Broadway. Recently, three NYC Secure Our Borders rallies, organized by NYICE, were on the forum.

I'll put you on the Chapter-plus-others ping list if you like, so you won't miss any more.
