Virginia senatorial wife Susan Allen and Republican operative Mary Matalin, accompanied by their respective daughters, were asked to leave a birthday celebration for the city of Alexandria on Saturday evening because they were "distracting." That says a close friend of Mrs. Allen, the wife of Virginia Republican Sen. George Allen, who is seeking re-election to a second term. "They were asked to leave the public event by Alexandria's Parks and Recreation Department because they were told they were 'distracting,'" the friend states. "That was the exact word [officials] used. Perhaps these Alexandria servants should be reminded that politicking at public, community events is a time-honored, American tradition, not to mention a First Amendment right." Actually, the two women weren't so much politicking as they were attracting attention while strolling through the waterfront festival, held at Oronoco Bay Park. Frequently mentioned as a possible White House contender in 2008, Mr. Allen faces a formidable challenger in former Navy Secretary Jim Webb, a Republican until he jumped ship and became a Democrat. Alexandria is known for being a Democratic bastion. The current mayor, vice mayor and council members are all Democrats. In addition, Old Town is home to former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner, a Democrat who has his own eyes on the White House in 2008. Mr. Allen resides in the Mount Vernon section of Fairfax County, just south of Alexandria. Beyond walking on water, there was little the Alexandria "servants" could do to stop a Potomac River boat captain from showing her loyalty to the Republican candidate by cruising along the waterfront festival with "George Allen for Senate" banners hanging from the port and starboard sides of her boat.

I've wanted Hillary to get lost for years ... but no one pays attention to me.
If only
they were asked to leave....did they ?
I'm not sure, the article didn't say but i would assume so.
Allen Ping
I can't imagine Mary Matalin going anywhere without someones ass getting gnawed off first.
She should have told them to make her leave. Let them bring in the police and tell her what law she's violating by merely being present, peacefully, in a public setting.
I guess this is how we can justify a ban on flag burning, by calling it a "distraction." So anything that's labelled as a "distraction" can just be removed by intolerance and hatred? These Dems. have become such fascists.
I couldn't imagine Mrs. Allen acting in any way other than a polite, feminine lady. Though this type of behavior is anathema to liberals I can't see where it justifies her being asked to leave.
By the way, I wonder if James Carville will be man enough to stand up to this DemoFascist mayor of Alexandria for his city officials disrespecting his wife like this. Anyone think it will be wife or party first with ole' James?
Not only the wife of a politician, but the wife of one of two United States Senators who just happens to represent the entire state of Virginia. He also served four years as Governor of the state. Democrats remind me so much of Soviet thugs of years gone by.
It's all part of the swamp fever politics infecting the left. They are crazed with hatred and intolerance, little better than the Brown Shirts of Nazi Germany. This is a direct result of the diseased campaign James Webb has forced on Virginia's politics. The man is so full of venom and bile he's bursting at the seems. I hope Virginians will wake up to what this ugly, despicable man is doing to Virginia's politics and resoundingly show him the door in November. He is part of the Moveon.org/Cindy Sheehan/Michael Moore demented politics crowd. A really mean, nasty rapid little vermin of a man.
Lol, the wife.. His wife after all can make him sleep on the couch.
ROFLMAO! Webb will self-destruct by September. He's already started.
How very tolerant.

She should've hit him in the face with her cell phone.
Well, Susan Allen does draw a good bit of attention.
No mention of this on the website, but several photos of her greeting folks.
Susan wouldn't likely challenge them. But I bet Mary Matalin would (and maybe did).
