Newman is skeptical, however, that Rice is ready for a presidential run so soon. He believes it is more likely Republicans are grooming her as a vice presidential candidate. He said pairing her with Arizona Sen. John McCain, for example, could strengthen the GOP ticket against a run by Clinton.

Besides consigning her to trash bin of history, any alliance with McCain would identify her as a choice of the MSM.

I'll not vote for someone who describes herself as "mildly pro-choice."

She'll fix that or miss my primary vote.

In the general election, it'll be a different story. But if she's with McCain, then the Pubbies will lose. The MSM has been pushing him the way they pushed Dole all those years. With McCain that know it's the Keating 5 issue.

They will eat him alive.

Me either. Never!!!!! They better have a pro-life candidate. If they don't than guess what? The RNC is obviously as corrupt as the dems and who needs either of them if that is the case.

And what, exactly, do you think the President can do about abortion? Would you install the rabidly pro-choice Hillary in order to avoid voting for someone mildly-pro-choice, even though neither one could make the practice mroe or less legal?

Unbeleivable that our leading candidate is a pro-choicer, who has never run for office, and who isn't even running....

"I'll not vote for someone who describes herself as "mildly pro-choice." "

And I'll not vote for someone who (a) is not a tested-by-fire-from-liberals politician, and (b) who is not even INTERESTED in the job.

Also she also was pushing Israel down the 'roadmap' of Gaza withdrawal, and we know how well that is turning out. Not!

"Besides consigning her to trash bin of history, any alliance with McCain would identify her as a choice of the MSM."

A lot of MSM hype behind this, yes. What's wrong with real candidates with real accomplishments? Mitt Romney, George Allen, Mike Pence, etc.

I think she'd be a slam dunk as a VP.

Condi has been an influential part of an administration that has asked our military to put their lives on the line to shape a more peaceful world and a safer America.

If she can ask the military to sacrifice, she should be willing to step forward and OFFER herself as a candidate, leaving it up to the American people to judge whether she is the right person to CONTINUE the policies in which so much blood and sacrifice has been invested.

She won't run. She is hoping for better things. She said she would probably go back to teaching.

Short of nominating Giuliani, I can't think of a single thing the GOP could do to more securely assure the ascent of The Beast in Pants Suits to the imperial throne of Washington.

I just gotta say it... and let me qualify this question by stating that to me it is an irrelevant matter. I think she would make an outstanding President.

But has anyone noticed she is an older woman who has never been married? She can get away with that as SOS. But the media will not leave that bit of info alone were she to run or be drafted into office. How will the evangelical/politically minded deal with that question?

Flame away....

The awful truth is, that - politically speaking - Condi Rice is Colin Powell in a skirt.

BTW, I still admire her, but more for the piano playing than the politics!.

If the "mildly pro-choice" means that the States get to choose their individual stance on abortion .... I could support that. Simply because, that would effectively overturn Roe vs Wade and return the decision on abortion back to the individual states.

If it is supporting the position of an abortion for rape, incest, or to protect the life of the mother.... ok, I could tolerate that.

Anything further... sorry I'd pass.
And anything with McCain.... I would have to pass as well.

Rice's connections with the current administraion ini Washington with its pussy-footing around with the Koreans and border porosity insanity and illegal invader amnesty has totally wiped her from any consideration in my mind.

Her connection with Bush has killed her chances for nomination - if she ever had any.

Connecting with McCain is just one more nail in the coffin.

I agree but I'll also add that I'll never believe a candidate's view on abortion if it has just changed 2 years before a presidential bid.

"She has clearly begun presenting a different image, moving from a harsh persona to one of a more warm public official."

I liked the old, harsher Rice better.

"...it is more likely Republicans are grooming her as a vice presidential candidate."

I agree, and I would probably vote for her as veep (to the right President, of course). There's no way I'll vote for McCain, however.

I'm leery about running Condi Rice for president. I don't think it's been proven that she is presidential material. There's more to the presidency than sitting in the Oval Office making decisions. A president needs to lead - communicate with Americans, even inspire or steady them, as President Bush did after 9/11. A president needs to tell Americans where he wants to lead them and how he means to get there. I don't know that Condi Rice can do it.

There are a few problems to electing Condoleezza Rice:

She's a woman. Yes, even in our politically correct age that's something to be overcome.

No one has voted for her in all her life. She has no electoral experience, no one knows if she is a good campaigner. The first office you run for should never be the presidency, except in extreme circumstances - like being a general-hero of World War II. Condi Rice is good, but she's no Dwight D. Eisenhower.

She's unmarried. Okay, presidents should be married, but is that any reason not to vote for her? It does, however, bring up a different point, which is that Condi has never married, never had children, and spent her entire adult life in academia and government. Her ability to relate to the lives of the vast majority of Americans, and their ability to relate to hers, is seriously in question.

She believes the government should not ban abortion. BIG red flag. President Bush thinks abortion should be banned completely, with a few rare exceptions. A lot of pro-lifers may disagree with him, but most will vote for him anyway. Condi Rice's position is farther than many pro-lifers are willing to bend.

McCain, if the nominee, would win. The hatred aroused by him here is not reflective of the Nation as a whole.

And there is no way the Treason Media is pushing a strongly Pro-Life, Pro-National Defense McCain that is the paranoia speaking.

It isn't only the Keating 5 issue.

There is a lot of McCain baggage that hasn't been aired.

I like Condi a lot. And she's smart. Too smart to team herself with McCain.

The grooming of her image has been related to her becoming Secretary of State and representing us to the world.

The BIG clues that she has changed her position and will consider running after all would be
1. She gets married
2. She embraces the pro-life position, because it is the only position consistent with her Christianity.
