Thanks for all the prayers. We really, really need them. Don had not been feeling well for about 2 weeks and had not been able to eat or drink very much of anything during that time. Lynn and I took him to the dr Wed. morning for his appt. When we got ready to go, he was so weak that we had to push him out to his Yukon in an office chair. They checked his bp when we got there and it was 66/42. They waited a few minutes and checked it again---72/48. The dr admitted him to the hospital which is connected to this office building. His bp was 108/72 when the nurse checked it.
They started an Iv and a bag of potassium, etc. They also started a bag of morphine because by then he was in a lot of pain. He was still very uncomfortable so Lynn and I stayed in his room constantly. About 12 midnight, I looked up and my sil and 2 nieces were standing at the door. They live in MS. They stayed at the hospital all of the time except to go to one of my niece's friends to change, shower, etc. I was in his room the whole time except for about 3 hours when they ran me out. That meant I had on the same clothes from Wed. morning to last night. Well, I did change shirts once.
They called all of the family in early yesterday morning because his bp started dropping and his Oxygen started decreasing very rapidly. His brother came in from Memphis with his daughter, his mom had come down Friday. His "adopted" sister who is a RN got there yesterday afternoon and took over. She knew what to look for along with one of my nieces who is a nurse, too.
Lynn, Levi, Leslie and I do not know what we would have done without my MS relatives and the others. We took over the sun room in the hospital.
For all of you who know about the space field, Don started AZ Technology years ago and they develop coatings for the shuttle and space station plus do optic research. Lynn and all of the other employees will continue the company.
I have lost my very best friend who was there for me through thick and thin. We met on July 1, 1962 and had our first date on July 4th. We went to the lake and I got so sunburned that he said it looked like I was walking on eggshells for about 2 weeks. We were together constantly from that time on. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, cousin, and nephew anyone could possible want or need. We all depended on him.
The funeral will be Tuesday morning at the church and he will be buried close to Janice.
Need to run.\
Thanks again,
Mamab and family
