Are you near El Cenizos?......I understand this is place where once there was a hispanic majority they decided to use spanish as the main language for all public meetings which I'm sure will be the case soon in other SW cities as the the La Razan's gain more control.

If people are so stupid to subsist on a mcdonalds diet for themselves and their kids--it serves them right.

Check out a public school lunch menu sometime.
Most of them serve the same stuff nowadays - sugary soft drinks laden with high-fructose corn syrup and pre-packaged, pre-cooked, highly procesed junk food.
I do not even know of a school that actually prepares fresh, homemade lunches anymore.
The stuff our children are consuming in the public schools is often worse than McDonalds.

Not to the degree it is now plus in years past many of those who came from south of the border came to assimilate and not to colonize (or re-colonize).

The article made it clear that 80% of the people in the town speak English and 20% speak Spanish. It seems to me if the 80% English speakers made it clear they would not patronize MacDonalds as long as the signs are in Spanish and the billboard is in Spanish, MacDonalds will change reasonably quickly.

It infuriates me in this country to have to "press 1 for English" - English should be the default. If a business has enough customers that want support in another language, then they can add that, but there should be no need to make a choice for English.

I had the occasion to be in a local MacDonalds the other day for the first time in 4-5 years. It used to be the help was African American, or local kids. This time, everyone working there was Hispanic, speaking Spanish among themselves completely, even talking about orders to the kitchen -- no way to know if they have it right if you're a normal American who doesn't speak Spanish -- and their accents in English when speaking to customers were so thick I had to ask them to repeat themselves several times in order to understand them. And this was in Greenwich, Connecticut, not some border town in Texas or California! Enough with the Spanish already! I don't patronize any business (unless it's a Spanish/Mexican/Latin American restaurant where you expect Spanish just as you expect French in a French restaurant or Chinese in a Chinese restaurant) where the help speaks primarily Spanish or the signs are in Spanish. Vote with your feet.

Freedom is not absolute. No on has the freedom to become a slave, or to sell out America. You comments are the mantra of the brainwashed left.

You can vote with your Feet at McDonald's for speaking Spanish but will you vote with you feet on the President?

It's disgusting to walk into a BofA and see signs in nothing but spanish........I told one of my customer reps I'm looking around for a new place to take my business and personal accounts. Also, I told him that he needs to remind his managers that "aiding and abetting" an illegal alien is against federal law......his repsonse was just a blank look on his face.

Actually, the only thing about these Spanish language signs is that I end up feeling like a foreigner in my own country. While no one sheds any tears over it I am, in essence, being disenfranchised by these folks.

I have no beef with immigrants and immigration, per se, the majority of us come from immigrant stock. But, if one relocates to a new country, one should do their best to assimilate into their new environment, NOT force the residents of the country to assimilate THEIR language, customs and traditions.

Come on, the President Bush has a White House Website in Spanish and you and I are paying for that!

BoA and McDonald's are using their own money.

You and I are also paying to feed, house, medicate, educate and incarcerate several million of these people who will never have any need to assimilate as long as the gov't, banks and retailers make it so simple for them to latch themselves onto our welfare system......now just just how stupid can we be to let this happen right under our noses and how can this country stay relatively cohesive in light of this illegal invasion?

If there were a better alternative, I would in a heartbeat. I do indeed criticized Bush on immigration. Problem is on the even more important issue of the war, there is simply no alternative. Having seen the Democrats on defense since the 1970s, it will be a very cold day in Hell before I vote for a Democrat for any office. Once upon a time, I would occasionally split tickets, but not for a long time now.

I, for one, am tired of picking up products in stores and finding the english on the packaging to be hard to see because the spanish is larger and covers more of the label.

I, for two, am too. America is not the "melting pot" it used to be. Now we are a pot of oil and water.

Arvest Bank (The Bank started and operated by the Walton Family of Wal-Mart fame) advertises Spanish-only on many of its branch marques.

Can you tell me of a time in this nation's, or your State's, history when Spanish was NOT one of the languages spoken?

You make a good point with that question. But why is it that when the rest of the world is moving toward English, the United States is moving towards Spanish? English is the language of commerce and a higher standard of living. It would be beneficial to promote it to those who don't speak it in our country.

Re: BofA

I had to drop by my local branch for a counter visit the day before Independence Day. As I stood in line a couple of things caught my eye. First, the number of people depositing wads of cash was surprising. I had not seen that before but then I hardly ever make a lobby visit. All the ones I observed with cash wads were non-English speaking hispanics. I wondered if they had paid taxes on that income. Secondly, above one of the tellers was a decoration of sorts. One of those tissue paper like sphere decorations that looks like a disco ball. Anyway it was colored red, white and green. Remember, this is the day before Independence Day and there are no Independence Day decorations of any kind to be found. My turn for a chance at the counter comes and I approach and conduct my business. During this time I say to the teller rather loudly, "I like your Independence Day decorations but it really should be red, white, and BLUE!". The teller looks at me inquisitively so I point to the decoration hanging from the ceiling at the end of the counter. She mumbles something like, "Oh that is for something else". Then the guy that was behind me in line says something like "That was for Cinco de Mayo that's why it is green". To which I replied that I knew that and I was just being facetious. He said that he could relate. I then loudly asked if that was the illegal alien teller. Boy that went over like a turd in a punch bowl. The silence was deafening. You could have heard a mouse fart. By this time I was done with my transaction and headed for the door. As I did I noticed that many of the non-hispanic customers were smiling at me and some of the hispanic customers didn't look too happy. I'm guessing that the reason all of them weren't scowling at me was because the didn't understand English.

One other thing that I thought I noticed but am not sure about was that the people depositing the wads of cash did not have to present ID. This struck me as odd because every time I have conducted business at a teller I have had to show my driver's license. Seeing as they were all using the "illegal alien" teller perhaps they were showing their matricula consular cards. I just don't know.

That's somewhat of a befuddling statement from someone with your handle.

You're critique of Native Texan stating that We are quickly losing our heritage. didn't make sense until I glanced at your bio.

One certainly couldn't say that you ("I hate Bush") are unhappy with the millions of illegal invaders.

Yes I noticed when our Lowe's (Dayton Ohio) hung up its bi-lingual signs and I was offended to say the least.

As I recall the signs were touting Christmas Trees.
