Not to the degree it is now plus in years past many of those who came from south of the border came to assimilate and not to colonize (or re-colonize).
Most of the people coming here have no interest in re-colonizing.
I would not come to conclusions on the majority of Mexican/Hispanics in the country based on the actions of a (small) percentage of idiots, any more than we should allow people to categorize all Americans based on the actions of Cindy Sheehan and her ilk.
