Excellent read on the effect of Liberalism on religion. Did you really expect it to be anything other than a disaster when the fringe is allowed to take over?

Entries included "Rock, Scissors and Paper" and "Larry, Curly and Moe." I think the LA Times read FR. Those were some of the suggestions given here.

When a Christian church cannot bring itself to endorse a bedrock Christian theological statement repeatedly found in the New Testament, it is not a serious Christian church.Not quite. It's a social club. It's at this point that they should clearly have their tax status revoked, because they're no longer a house of worship - they're just a bunch o' liberals.

What a terrible disgrace. I hate that my eyes saw it to read it.

The fact of the matter is that as long as there is an organized structure to Christianity, the enemy will always be knocking itself out to infiltrate and corrupt it. CINO's are a direct result of their successes. They will promote any pervesion they can possibly manage as part of their "church" doctrine, but it is no closer to following the teachings of Christ than any random set of stereo instructions is.

May be a denominational effect -but I was taught -first by the southern Baptists--then by the Christian Church -most importantly by the Scriptures themselves that whenever we
screw up--and play word games with the original menaing and intent of a passage or verse Then we get the contradictions and misunderstandings. the libs make th esame mistakes the
slaveholders made when they attmepted to justify their actions by use of the Scripture. We ought use Scripture to
change our life --not to twist it in attmept to justify our
evil deeds.

We must be clear about 'remnant' theology for these days - those who have not bowed their knee to Ba'al. A remnant saved by grace.
We also need to understand the doctrine of the visible and invisible church so not to get too discouraged.
These are the last days, days of grace bothers and sisters, watch and pray. The world goes it's own way. we are the apple of the Lord's eye and he covers us in the shadow of His hand.
Notice how the persecuted church is cleared about the Gospel. This blasphemous mockery is the result of too much comfort (among other things)
Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him ye creatures here below. Praise him all ye heavenly host. Praise Father Son and Holy Ghost. Now and unto the ages. Amen

Liberalism is godlessness. And who said the vain shall inherit the earth? Indeed.

"And they keep telling the Catholic Church that it had better get with the liberal program ordain women, bless gay unions and so forth or die. Sure.Thank you, John Paul II! And thank you Benedict XVI. As a convert to Catholicism 12 years ago, I cannot understand how my two brothers, one Episcopalian and one Presbyterian, cannot see the wreckage occuring around them. They are blinded by their liberalism. It is very sad.

Bible prophecy being fullfilled right before our eyes:
I Timothy 4:1-2, Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
II Timothy 4:3-4, For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Can anyone who takes bible prophecy seriously doubt that we are living in the "latter times" just before the return of Jesus Christ? I don't.

the same could be said about the Democratic Party. Their slide is only halted by the longer life of people after retirement. If people over 65 had not extended their lives to 80 there would be 10 million fewer votes in elections - mostly on the side that has a D next to the candidate.
The boomer's kids are not fooled by their liberal parents. Divorce and the yuppie lifestyle did not help kids. So,they are rejecting their parents if it feels good do it mantra.

The Church will survive, inspite of crazies in the Liberal fringe. They Church is the living Body of Christ. Not the buildings and not false doctrines.
The modern movement is not all that different from Gnosticism that plauged the Church in its infancy. And the Church is still here.

Liberalism today, whether in North American politics, religion or any other philosophy, is the slippery slope. It can't simply stop at reasonable change and be happy, but rather, must continue to change for the sake of change until the end result is completely untenable and nothing like the original starting point. It is a childishly emotional response to facts and common sense traditions.

Entries included "Rock, Scissors and Paper" and "Larry, Curly and Moe." Was it St Augustine or Martin Luther that said "A denomination can survive persecution, but it can not survive being laughed at by the entire world."?
Actually, neither one said that.

Moved by the spirit of the Presbyterian revisionists, Beliefnet blogger Rod Dreher held a "Name That Trinity" contest. Entries included "Rock, Scissors and Paper" and "Larry, Curly and Moe."As a non practicing Catholic, I feel like I've been there, done that. Liturgical dances, inane feel good homilies, and "oh gee, wouldn't want to offend anyone(except people who want to attend a traditional Mass)". I show up for funerals. That's about it.

The conclusion is wonderful:
So this is the liberal Christianity that was supposed to be the Christianity of the future: disarray, schism, rapidly falling numbers of adherents, a collapse of Christology and national meetings that rival those of the Modern Language Assn. for their potential for cheap laughs. And they keep telling the Catholic Church that it had better get with the liberal program ordain women, bless gay unions and so forth or die. Sure.
A number of comments on this thread make it clear how often American Catholic churchmen have toyed with these ideas. The fact that they got no farther than they did is evidence of the Church's divine guidance.
