MILLIONS of British children have probably been infected with whooping cough even though they have been immunised against it.

That quote from the last part of the article is almost (but not quite) worth the price of the mindless, money-wasting bureaucracy that produced it.
If a vaccine doesn't last worth a dang, it's not workingis it? Or is the purpose of the policy something other than health?
And don't tell me that the theory that the pertussis vaccine can cause brain damage is "unfounded." I know of too many cases where a baby got screaming sick or died immediately after getting the pertussis shot. There's a wide range of reactions to it, but in some, it can be awful. The article acknowledges that the disease is only dangerous to babies in their first year. Babies who are being nursed rarely get serious illnesses of any kind. In our experience, a croupy cough in kids that age or older is silenced immediately by two homeopathics: spongia tosta and arnica montana.
Around here, docs are recommending that adults get a booster shot for pertussis along with their tetanus booster. They are concerned that adults could act as carriers of the illness.
I'm not sure what I think about it. Doc pushed me to get my booster last winter, so I said okay. I came down with a cold the next day.
My opinion would be: MILLIONS of British children have probably been infected with whooping cough because they have been immunised against it.
Before you let doc put a shot of chemicals in you, why don't you ask him or her to show you the double blind study proving effectivness and saftey? Betcha Doc can't.
I believe you're referring to the WHOLE CELL Pertussis vaccine. The current vaccine is ACELLULAR Pertussis, which does not cause the side effects which you mention (the Whole Cell Pertussis vaccine DID cause those problems in a percentage of those receiving it). Then again, respiratory arrest from a Pertussis infection can cause brain damage as well....
