More than 70 terrorists have been killed since the onset of Operation Summer Rain last week in the Gaza Strip, the IDF said Saturday night.
Some 40 armed Palestinians were killed in IDF operations in north Gaza, said the army.
One IDF soldier, Yehuda Basel, was killed by friendly fire.
70:1 kill ratio, can't get much better than that. Keep it up, IDF. You're doing the right thing, as usual.
The Arabs all want to die for Allah.
do you include friendly fire kills in that?
Multiply 70 by 1000 and the IDF will be getting somewhere.
If the death is the result of a military operation, yes.
I obviously would prefer not to in this case, but friendly fire deaths are always a tragedy. Given they happen in every war, the West has gotten better in getting the numbers to decrease, and continue advances in medicine to care for wounded, regardless of cause.
Makes me want to break out singing "We're dancing in the rain, we're dancing in the rain, what a beautiful morning...."
Agreed. But the muslims will not fight a conventional war; they haven't the equipment, the brains nor the tactical training to do so (they haven't had it since the Turks)and realize they'd reach your 1000:1 kill ratio if they tried, hence the cowardly guerilla tactics. I would think our military has been consulting with the Israelis all along as to how to deal with these types as we face this crap in Iraq/Afghanistan, and although information isn't released as to how many insurgents and their supporters are being killed, I suspect the ratio to the U.S. forces is quite handsome.
"When the rain comes, they run and hide their heads, they might as well be dead ..."
Good riddance to bad rubbish!
And by God we should help them any way we can to achive that goal! Them virgins aint getting any younger!
War with hamass is inevitable. The Israelis have a perfect pretext with the abduction of the Israeli soldier and killing of two others on Israeli soil, by hamass operatives.
What would Sharon do? He wouldn't temporize or worry about what eurabia thinks of the ongoing operations in hamistan. I think he would use this opportunity to strangle this little ugly baby in its cradle.
Israel, now is the time to settle at least some of the family business. Hamass delanda est!
I'm passin' out candy...
A good start, but most likely a very small down payment on the final bill.
I would not call that a pretext.
pretext A noun
1 guise, pretense, pretence, pretext an artful or simulated semblance; "under the guise of friendship he betrayed them"
2 pretext, stalking-horse something serving to conceal plans; a fictitious reason that is concocted in order to conceal the real reason
I'd call it a casus belli
Casus belli is a modern Latin-based expression meaning "occasion of war", used officially to refer to the grievances section of a formal Declaration of war. With this usage, and due to its common mispelling and pronunciation as "causus belli," ie. resembling the English "cause" and the original Latin "causa" ("cause") the term has the popular connotation of "cause for war".
"...and the jukebox kept on playin' 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'..."
"I'd call it a casus belli"
I'd say you are right on target.
